Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Book 1 Waur Medge Academy Campaign Mode!
Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to another edition of Community Engagement Challenged! In today's post, let's talk about the newly released feature in Splinterlands, the Campaign Mode.
Splinterlands Campaign Mode
I have been requesting for a Player versus Environment or PvE mode in Splinterlands. Since it's inception, Splinterlands has been purely Player versus Player or PvP. A PvE mode will be a fun feature doing missions while not fighting with other players. Finally, the team has released a "new player friendly" PvE mode. It's a campaign mode with the aim of teaching new players about the basics of Splinterlands battles. At the same time, new players will earn glints and reward cards to help them progress in the game while learning. Each mission teaches something about battles where players earn reward cards. The reward cards can then be used in the next mission where new rewards can be earned. It's a fun exercise that not only new players will appreciate but the veterans as well.
The Campaign Tab
The mission can be accessed in Play tab.
Click the Campaign tab below the Ranked Play tab and it should bring you to the Book 1 Waur Medge Academy.
Clicking it brings us to eleven fun missions. It's a story mode campaign where we can learn about the Splinterlands battle system.
Each chapter is a very basic lesson about Splinterlands card types, attack types, stats and abilities, positioning, mana, elements and battle modifiers. Each chapter will give you rewards in the form of foundation cards and glints. Overall there are a total of thirty eight (38) foundation cards and one thousand one hundred (1,100) glints that will be useful to both new players and veterans alike.
Completing the Campaign
The campaign mode is relatively easy as its aim is to teach the basics of gameplay. Just follow the story and do the battles and you will find it fun and easy to do. After collecting the rewards, you can use the glints to buy chests in the reward shop. This will give you more cards to use. Now you are ready to apply what you learned in actual ranked play.
Foundation Archons
For veteran players, the Foundation cards, especially the archons remind me of the Alpha/Beta and Untamed Summoners. It looks like the old starter cards but with new design and sets. Marlai is Alric, Barthalamas is Pyre, Sage is Tyrus and Aurelia is Lyanna. It seems like Splinterlands is returning to its roots.

Foundation Units I Liked
While the cards are at level one and not that strong. I find that some of these cards can be useful for veteran players. Here are some of the cards I liked.
Time Bandit
The Time Bandit is an Earth element dwarf. He can be used by two elements or splinters since the Fire archon is a dwarf. He can also benefit from the Bloodline Dominion buff. He deals one magic damage and has decent health of seven. HIs ability, Cleanse is very useful in Poison rulesets. Overall, a decent starter card that can be useful in battles.
Kicking Roc
I like this card because of the damage she can deal. At only level one she deals three ranged damage. Pretty good for a starter card.
Ash Archer
Ash Archer is Fire element elf. Similar to the time bandit, he can be used by two splinters, Earth and Fire. He can benefit from the Bloodline Dominion buff granted by Kaylia, the Earth archon. He deals decent ranged damage of two. He has three health and two speed.
Vengeful Monk
A neutral card that can deal two melee damage and has the Opportunity ability. This will be a useful card in Shades of Grey ruleset.
Sherringham Logger
A card that deals two melee damage with Sneak ability. He deals decent damage and harasses the enemy backline. I can find use for this card in my battles.
Final Thoughts
The Campaign Mode is a great new feature in Splinterlands. It achieves its goal of hand-holding new players to the basics of Splinterlands while also be enjoyed by veteran players alike. I especially appreciate the new cards and I hope they can be levelled up in the future. I like the Book 1 and eagerly awaiting the release of Book 2 and more campaigns in the future. Well done Splinterlands!
