Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: How I Play Against Rulesets

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome to another edition of Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge! Rulesets is one of the mechanics that sets Splinterlands apart. It introduces another hurdles for players to overcome aside from their opponents. In this post, I will discuss how I play in certain rulesets.

Back to Basics and Silenced Archons

In this ruleset, abilities are ignored so I would use units that deals a lot of damage. I'd also prioritize units with high armor and magic units. Also, units with negative abilities like the Shock Trooper shines because you can take advantage of his high damage potential without suffering the drawbacks from his negative abilities.

In this battle, I chose Kavor Skarn for my archon. Not only can I use two splinters using a dragon archon, Karvor Skarn also needs less mana to use in battle because he doesn't give standard buffs to units which is not useful in this Silenced Archons ruleset anyway.

In the tank position, I used the Cavewise Wayfinder. At only six mana, he deals three melee damage and has three speed. On defense, he has four armor and eight health. He's a very capable tank and he loses his Reckless ability. The Back to Basics ruleset actually working on his favor.

In second position, I can't use his buddy Vicious Giraffe who can't use Reach and won't have the Painforge ability. Instead, I used a magic unit, Arcane Skinwalker. It's an good damage dealer having two magic attack, four armor and five health. The type of unit that I want to use in Back to Basics.

In third is another magic unit, Night Reaper. It deals three magic damage and fast with four speed. It has an armor and nine health for defense.

In fourth, I used an archer unit, Portly Cannoneer who deals two ranged damage for four mana. Looking back, I should have used the Kha'zi Conjurer instead who deals four ranged damage for two mana. I don't know how this slipped my mind.

In fifth is another archer who deals three magic damage. The Chaos Battle Mage is a legendary unit. Lastly, in sixth position is another legendary archer. Syrenth deals four ranged damage and has eight health.

The opponent has a similar idea but he has a no-attack unit in the tank position. His backline is composed of magic and ranged units. At a quick glance, my units has more damage potential giving me the advantage.

Noxious Fumes Ruleset

In Noxious Fumes ruleset, I would have units with Immunity or Cleanse ability. I would also pick units with high health to help survive against the Poison.

In this battle, there were only two choices for splinters: Life or Death. In Life, I would have the Luceheim Demon who has Cleanse ability and a strong tank. I used to pair Luceheim Demon with Uriel the Purifier in this ruleset. However, the battle is only limited to twenty seven mana so using the Luceheim Demon who already has seven mana and a strong tank is not possible so I chose the Death splinter instead.

In tank position, I had Ujurak Brave. He has the Immunity ability to counter the Poison. His stats are also great for a tank.

Ujurak Brave fan art.

In second position, I had the Grimward Ruinshot that deals two ranged damage. I can afford to use ranged units in this battle since the archon, Razi Clanktrap grants the Close Range ability.

In third is another archer, Chaos Battle Mage who deals three ranged damage. While in fourth position is a two mana unit that I slot in.

The opponent has a similar team with some differences. I like that he used the Conclave Tracker since it has the Repair ability that can help his tank. It's a strategy that I also use but in this battle, I preferred the two ranged damage by Grimward Ruinshot over the Conclave Tracker's ability.

The battle was close and could have gone either way. The opponent's Conclave Tracker did her job well, better than my choice. My units have higher health and the Poison damage helped my team eliminate the enemy.
