Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: My Combos in Fog of War
Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome to another edition of Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge! Today's challenge is about my favorite team combinations. I'll show a couple of the teams that I use in a particular ruleset: Fog of War. Each team member is chosen to synergize with each other making their overall power more than the sum of their individual parts.
Battle 1 - Earth Team in Fog of War
In Fog of War ruleset, units lose their ability to Sneak, Snipe and use Opportunity attacks. However, abilities like Reach and Charge are not affected by Fog of War. So in this ruleset, I usually choose the Earth team with the following combo.
Kaylia Silverleaf (archon)
The Earth archon, Kaylia Silverleaf is one of my strong archons at level three. She debuffs the enemy magic attacks and gives the Execute ability to all elves.
Folen Flameeye (tank)
Folen Flameeye is not as beefy as other tanks having no armor. However, he has the Flank ability which gives my team the ability to use two tanks in battle. The Flank ability grants the unit behind him to have the Reach ability so now I can use two tanks.
Warborn Chieftain (offtank)
In rulesets like Fog of War, I can take advantage of using two tanks and the Reach ability. Warborn Chieftain is a strong tank by his own right. He deals four melee damage and makes up for lack of armor by his Shield ability. Moreover, he has Phase to defend against magic attacks.
Blackmoor Wildelf (fourth position)
Blackmoor Wildelf is a magic attacker that attacks from long distance so Fog of War has no effect on her. Further, she is an elf that will take advantage of the Execute ability granted by the archon.
Halaran Huntress
Halaran Huntress is a low mana unit the deals two melee damage. She has the Charge ability that allows her to use melee attacks from any position.
In the below battle, I changed the line up slightly to maximize the mana cap. I used the Thanalorian Blade and Aranduriel instead of Halaran Huntress. My two tanks worked well against the opponent who used an all magic team.
Battle 2 - Long Distance Attackers
Another combo I use effectively in Fog of War is a team composed of a strong, beefy tank followed by long distance attackers composed of magic and ranged units. An example of such team is composed of the following units.
Commander Slade
Commander Slade is one of my favorite tanks. He's a reward card from the Rebellion set but he can stand toe to toe against the best tanks out there. He deals four melee damage while debuffing the enemy tank's attacks. For defense he has eight armor, nine health and the Dodge ability. His only weakness is his lack of defense against magic attacks.
Night Reaper
Night Reaper is a strong card that's useful in many situations. He has three magic attack, has Flying ability and has enough defense to be able to play tank in certain situations.
Arcane Skinwalker
Arcane Skinwalker is the promo card I earned for buying Conclave Arcana packs. At level one, he has good stats. He deals two magic damage, has six armor and five health. He can also play tank in some instances.
Shock Trooper
I used Shock Trooper in this battle but any other long range unit can do. In fact, the Shock Trooper made the battle more dangerous since he hurts his team mates in every round in exchange for his high magic damage.
Syrenth
Syrent is a strong legendary dragon unit. It deals four ranged attack and has the Taunt ability that I like. To complement its Taunt, it also has Dodge for defense.
The opponent's lineup is composed of mostly magic units with one melee unit in the rear with Charge ability. It almost looks like the position were reversed since his melee unit is in the back. The opponent has more units than I do but my units deal more damage.
Final Thoughts
That concludes my post for this edition. I hope you learned something not only from my power combos but also how I apply them in rulesets.
