Splinterlands: Gold III Unlocked!

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog! After a long time, I unlocked Gold III again. The last time I was consistently unlocking Gold III was way back in Chaos Legion era when I had a high level deck. Since Conclave Arcana, I've been struggling getting to Silver I. I have new cards from the Escalation set and bought some more from the Core set. Clearly, this has helped me climb to higher leagues and it feels great to be in Gold again.
Proposal to Bring Bracket to Modern
However, this may be the last time I step into Gold since there is a proposal to bring brackets to the Modern League. Under this proposal, players will have to choose the brackets they will compete in similar to the one in Chaos Legion era. Cards are optimized per bracket and players will do well if their cards are levelled up to the brackets they choose. This means that it won't be optimal for my cards to play in Gold since they are underpowered. On the other hand, I can compete well in Silver League since my cards are levelled up to compete in that league.

Escalation Cards Help me Win

I credit my improvement to the Escalation cards that I acquired. They help me win and made playing fun again. Previously I would struggle against teams led by the very tanky Der Gottem Gearnut but now with high damage cards my team can bring down even the beefiest tanks.
Featured Battle

In this battle, I'm up against a team led by Der Gottem Gearnut in the tank position. He's a very beefy tank with twenty health at level one. Worse, he's got healing ability from the archon making him even harder to beat.
My team had the Dragon archon Kavor Skarn and I used a couple of high damage cards from the Escalation set. My team was composed of the following cards.
Doomshield Warden
Arguably the best among the Escalation common cards, my Doomshield Warden is only level one but deals four melee damage and has three speed. It has seven armor and nine health on defense. I have to level it up to two so that I can use it at Silver League when brackets return to Modern.
Halfling Refugee
My second tank and also a filler card. It's only one mana but packs a lot of stats. At level two it deals three melee damage, has six health and three speed.
Night Reaper
The Night Reaper is a versatile card that can play various roles including tank. My Night Reaper is at level three and deals three magic damage, has four speed, one armor and ten health.
Gravebrand Warlock
Gravebrand Warlock is rare reward card that can be obtained in the game. Mine is at level two and deals three magic damage. It also has five health and one speed stats.
Mindless Thrall
Mindless Thrall is also a reward card that packs a lot of damage. My card is at level three and deals three magic damage and very fast with five speed. It also has five health on defense.
Magnificent Mollusk
Magnificent Mollusk is from the Escalation set. It deals a huge six range damage and has three speed. It also has three armor and six health.
Each of my team deals at least three damage. This was my strategy going into the battle that had Back to Basics ruleset. My enemy had a team anchored on a beefy tank, Der Gottem Gearnut. Even though the ruleset does not allow abilities, the healing came from the archon and is active. This made the enemy tank harder to defeat and allowed his damage dealers to do their job. Thankfully, my units had the higher attacks disposed of the enemy tank in two rounds even with healing ability. After his tank was gone, the battle went easy and my team got the victory.
