Splinterlands Guild Brawl and Gladiator Cards

avatar

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to another edition of Social Media Challenge! In today's post, I will write about our guild's latest brawl. I will show our performance, the rewards we received and the Gladiator cards I bought from the shop.

Brawl Performance

Our guild ranked a respectable fourth in the brawl winning eighty four battles and earning 102 crowns that we can use to upgrade our buildings.

My performance was not as great as I wanted this time. I only contributed four wins out of eight battles. Each of us who joined the brawl earned 5343 Merits and 66 SPS. A decent reward for joining the brawl and having fun at the same time. On the other hand, you also have to contribute by showing up to your assigned fray and having competitive cards for that fray.

Gladius Case Purchase

It’s always exciting to see new cards added to my deck that's why buying and opening Gladius cases is my favorite part after every brawl. This time, I saved around 11,000 Merits, which I used to buy 5 Gladius Cases. Each case contains five cards, with at least one guaranteed to be rare or better, so I’ll be adding 25 new cards to my collection. Last week was unlucky so I’m really hoping to pull a few legendary cards from this batch.

What about that? No legendary cards but I got three good epics. These are the epic cards I use in my battles so not bad at all.

Featured Battle

The battle is only for twenty two mana but has the Equalizer ruleset so I didn't use Quora to maximize the units I can put in battle. I still used the Earth team which is my favorite splinter and elves being my favorite race. I tried to use low mana units to have a complete six card team but I was only limited to five. The ruleset included Equalizer so it's a good strategy to put as many units to take advantage of the life boost.

My team was composed of the following:

Halfling Refugee (tank)

A decent tank at only one mana. He deals three melee damage and has a lot of health. On the other hand, my Halfling Refugee is at lower levels and doesn't have the Healing ability.

Bren Palesworn (second position)

A legendary six mana card. Bren is a valuable addition to my team and I can use him in all splinters. His Shapeshift ability is great as he takes advantage of the Bloodline Dominion buff of all archons. He deals dual damage of melee and range while having the Sneak ability allowing him to attack with melee from the anywhere.

Fina Voxom (Gladiator)

Fina is the best card in my collection. A level three gold foil that deals four melee damage and has the Opportunity and Piercing abilities. She's also an elf, giving her the Execute ability. She's a great damage dealer with the combination of stats and abilities.

Blackmoor Wild Elf (fourth position)

I had another elf in fourth position. Blackmoor Wild Elf deals two magic damage and has the Camouflage ability.

Blackmoor Jinx (last position)

Completing my team is another one mana card, Blackmoor Jinx. It deals one ranged damage and has the Snipe ability.

The enemy team had six units in their line up. He chose a Dragon/Water team with Isgalt Vorst as the Gladiator card. He also had the legendary new card, Calamity. At first glance, it looks like my enemy has the more powerful cards but it has drawbacks. He had a couple of cards that had the Electrified debilitation. That means his team receives two magic damage each round. A very dangerous strategy indeed.

In the battle, my enemy drew first blood, immediately eliminating my units. However, Fina went wild and defeated enemy units one after the other. With each kill, her Bloodlust got activated making her more powerful. Fina, and also the enemy's Electrified status led to my victory.

Final Thoughts

Guild Brawls offer another exciting and rewarding way to battle in Splinterlands. By joining brawls, I earn Merits, which help me strengthen my deck, and SPS rewards, which I can stake or use to buy new cards from the market. Being part of a guild also comes with extra perks, like a Glint earnings boost. If you’re not in a guild yet, now’s the time to find one. There are many guilds on the Splinterlands discord that are actively recruiting players to join their ranks.
