Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: My Current Season Progress

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to another edition of Social Media Challenge! Currently, the presale of Conclave Arcana has started and a lot of people has participated and bought a lot of packs.

On a personal note, the season is still ongoing and I'm continuing to grind and earn rewards. I'm building my staked SPS with an initial goal of fifteen thousand SPS. I am now at seven thousand SPS or almost fifty percent of my goal. I'm also building my legendary reward deck and aim to upgrade my legendary reward cards to at least level three. As usual, the season is marked by fun battles and I will share my favorite battle here.

No ruleset, 34 Mana Cap

The battle has no particular ruleset and is capped at 34 mana. All splinters except for Fire can be used. Normally, I would pick the Water splinter composed of Commander Slade, Deep Lurker and Swamp Spitter but I'm trying out a new combination with my Death splinter.

My Team

I picked the Death splinter which I usually use in low mana (30 mana and below) battles. My team is composed of:

Thaddius Brood (summoner/archon)

Thaddius Brood debuffs the opponent with -1 magic and -1 health. He is a good anti-magic summoner but he is also great in Poison rulesets where health is crucial.

Cursed Windeku (tank)

Cursed Windeku is one of the best rare tanks. It deals decent damage, has good speed and high health. On the abilities side, it has Thorns making it great against melee units while Thaddius takes care of mitigating magic damage. Cursed Windeku also has great sustainability since it can heal itself. The only thing wanting is the lack of armor but that can be solved with my team composition.

Shadow Snitch (second position)

The Shadow Snitch is a perfect partner for the Cursed Windeku especially in low mana battles. It deals two melee damage and has decent speed and health. It has the Reach ability allowing him to do melee damage from the second position. He also has Affliction which will prevent the enemy from healing if it procs.

Dark Arborist (third position)

The Dark Arborist is part of the Rebellion reward cards. It's a decent unit that deals two magic damage, has two speed and five health. I like that it has the Demoralize ability, decreasing the enemy melee damage by one. It also has Magic Reflect, making it a great unit in magic only rulesets.

Revealer (fourth position)

Revealer is an epic reward card from the Chaos Legion set. In my opinion this card is undervalued for the things it brings in battle. It has almost similar stats as the Dark Arborist. On the abilities side, it has Stun which can be crucial in close battles as it prevents the enemy to do an action in one turn. It also has Immunity, making it a great unit to use in Noxious Fumes ruleset.

Ravenhood Warden (fifth position)

The Ravenhood Warden is a soulbound reward card from the Chaos Legion set. It deals two ranged damage, has two speed and low health of only two. What makes this unit a great combo for the Cursed Windeku is its ability to provide armor to the whole team with its Shield ability.

Meriput Slinger (sixth position)

The Meriput Slinger is part of the Rebellion reward cards set. It requires seven mana to field in battle but contributes a lot and one of the new cards that I like. It deals a massive four ranged damage, has decent three speed and five health. More importantly, it slows down the enemy with its Impede and Slow abilities.

The Opponent Team

My opponent's team is a good one. It's units synergize well with each other and this is a team that I could use myself. In the tank position, he has the beefy Baakjira. It's a great anti-magic tank and slows down the enemy team. It has no attack but no problem since on the second position he has Kulu Mastermind which provides no attack units with melee attack with its Weapons Training ability. In third, he has one of the best support units in the game, the Merdaali Guardian which has both Heal and Repair abilities. It also has no attack benefits from Weapons Training. In fourth and fifth positions he has two units with Snipe ability. They would work together with Kulu Mastermind to hunt down my lowest health units, a pretty devastating combo. In last position he has a zero mana unit to catch Sneak attackers.

The Battle

My opponent has fast units and quickly eliminated my Ravenhood Warden but my team countered and killed his tank. Still his Snipers are deadly and eliminated Revealer but I also hit back and removed his Kulu Mastermind. In the end, it was Cursed Windeku's sustained Healing and Thorns ability that brought me the victory.

Final Thoughts

It's an exciting time to be playing Splinterlands and I'm glad that I'm still playing the game. I continue with my goal to stack SPS and improve my deck as I await the pack opening of Conclave Arcana. I already saved some DEC and HBD as I'm planning to buy cards instead of trying my luck with packs. Thank you for reading and see you in the next edition!
