Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to another edition of Social Media Challenge! Today, I'll be writing about our latest guild brawl and Gladius case opening. I'll show some battles where I spam my new favorite ability in the age of Conclave Arcana: Execute.

My Game Status

Today I just cracked Gold III League for the first time since the new Modern cards were introduced. It's a tough going since my cards are not at a competitive levels yet and I'm also showing inexperience in handling the new cards. It's frustrating to lose to level one archons when my archons are at a higher level at three because my opponent has the better team synergy even at lower levels. I'm continuing to learn though and getting better at forming my teams.

Preparing for Yaba's Pickle

I have already raised my staked SPS to 14,000 SPS to be eligible to buy fourteen BCX of Yaba's Pickle. I'm thinking of buying more in time for the snapshot on June 17 so I'm reserving my liquid Hive and didn't buy any cards this week.

Our Latest Guild Brawl

After last week's great results, we have an abysmal brawl performance this week placing in rank eight, second to the last.

My own performance was not so good either, only scoring three wins out of five battles. As a consolation prize, we earned 2,800 merits and 38 SPS.

I could only afford to buy one Gladius case and to wrap up the unlucky streak, the cards I got were atrocious as well. Better luck next brawl!

Featured Battles: Execute to Win!

As awful our brawl performance was, the battles were nevertheless fun. I experimented with some combos with mixed results. One combo I used with great success were with the Earth splinter featuring the archon, Kaylia and her merry band of elves executing the enemy.

Battle 1 - Kaylia and Three Elves

In this battle, I packed my lineup with three elves to help Quora in dealing damage. I also slot in a one mana card to guard my rear while dealing minimum damage.

My opponent had an Earth/Fire archon combo and picked the legendary Tatiana Blayde for his Gladiator card. Even though she's a legendary, I think Quora is still better than her in a head to head match up.

My troops cut down the enemy with great efficiency in this battle. Two opponents were disposed by the Silverleaf Warlock with Execute while Quora managed to kill Tatiana. This battle was an easy win.

Battle 2 - Fina Executes!

Fina Voxom is already an offensive beast with high speed and damage stats coupled with her abilities of Opportunity, Piercing and Bloodlust. Add Execute to her kit and she will be unstoppable under normal conditions, like if the ruleset does not limit her abilities. This battle was such a case with Fina having full use of all her offensive abilities.

The battle is only capped at seventeen mana which is also great for Fina who only needs five mana to join the battle. I had the Warborn Chieftain at tank duties and the Halfling Refugee to guard the rear. Both are great tanks and protected Fina while she does her job of executing the enemy.

The opponent made the first kill with his Katrelba Gobson having the Double Strike ability. My Halfling sacrificed himself to protect Fina who retaliated with a kill of her own. Having the Execute and Opportunity abilities together is like giving Fina the Double Strike ability. She whittles down her target's health to two and finishes it with Execute. The battle seemed close with each of us left with one card but my Fina is far stronger than the opponent's.

Battle 3 - Quora Finds a Perfect Buddy!

One of the new cards I find useful is Virid Venomancer. She deals two magic damage while granting the unit in front of her the Shield ability. I find her a great partner to tanks where she can provide another layer of defense.

Quora is an offensive beast and has healing to sustain herself. However on defense she is lacking in armor so another defensive ability will certainly help keep her in battle longer. This is where Virid Venomancer shows her value by granting tanks an additional defensive skill.

Making up the rest of my team are two elves, legendary Chaos Battle Mage for additional damage and Fenmoor Woodtroll who has good abilities but I don't use often because of his high mana.

My opponent has higher level cards including a level two Tatiana Blayde for his Gladiator card.

My team made the first kill, disposing the enemy's Warborn Chieftain. The Execute ability was again crucial in this battle disposing of three enemy units. Quora took advantage of her Shield and stayed until the end. I won the battle losing only one unit.
