Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome to another edition of Splinterlands Social Media Challenge! Our guild finished another brawl. I'll be sharing our performance and my gladius pack purchase and pack opening.

Brawl Performance

Our guild placed at a respectable fourth rank in this brawl. We won ninety nine battles and lost sixty nine for two hundred ninety seven points. We earned 107 crowns which we can use to upgrade our buildings.

My own contribution was seven wins out of eight battles. Each of us earned 5,600 Merits and 85 SPS. It's a decent haul in this brawl.

Gladius Case and New Gladiator Cards

I used the merits I earned to buy two Gladius cases. This means ten new cards will be added to my collection. Now, to open them!

A good pull! I have a new legendary dragon card, Larissa Kerato. I also got two epic cards.

Featured Battles

Battle 1 - Quora and Elves

The battle ruleset was Beefcake, only units with five or more health can be used so I wasn't able to use some of my support units. Luckily, the splinters allowed like Dragon and Death included elves. It allowed me to fill my team with the best units for the archon I used.

I chose the Earth splinter so that I can use Quora, one of best Gladiator cards. In the tank position I used Folen Flameeye. I chose him because of his Flank ability, making it possible to use Quora in second position where she can attack twice with melee and magic. The rest of my team were composed of elves to take advantage of the Execute ability granted by the archon Kaylia Silverleaf to all elves.

The opponent has a level five archon with Water and Death splinters. Some of his units were higher level than mine. Although he has a legendary card, he didn't use any Gladiator cards.

The ruleset also included Target Practice so all units have Snipe ability. The opponent attacks were concentrated on my Quora in second position. Luckily she can heal herself. She tanked the attacks while my other units were free to attack the enemy units.

Battle 2 - Shades of Grey and Briar Patch Ruleset

The two rulesets that influenced my choice of units in this battle were Shades of Grey and Briar Patch. I can only use neutral units but I avoided using the legendary Gladiator card, Tatiana Blayde. She is a great unit in most instances but the ruleset includes Briar Patch which would work against her. So I played this battle without Gladiator card and depended on my non-melee units instead.

The opponent made the mistake of using Tatiana. Not only is she susceptible to Thorns damage, she also has a low health of five without armor.

The opponent made the first kill but my team retaliated and disposed the opponent. The battle came close with the opponent having two units against my Conclave Tracker who surprisingly carried the battle for me. She kept repairing her armor while doing damage to the enemy and won the battle.

Battle 3 - No Quora, No Problem

In the next battle, the cheeky opponent prevented us from using Quora while they have the benefit of using her in battle. Luckily, the mana was capped at fourteen so there was not much benefit in using her solo. In lieu of Quora, I used my other favorite Gladiator instead, Fina Voxom. An added bonus is she is an elf, thus benefiting from Kaylia Silverleaf's Execute ability. I had four units against my opponent's lone Quora.

In some circumstances, a solo Quora can win battles but not this one. Her healing cannot keep up with the damage dealt by my team and soon she succumbed to my team's attacks.
