Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!

I just unlocked Gold II League in Modern. It's great that I moved to this league early as it increased my SPS rewards earned per win. I was also rewarded with advancement chests that contained cards, among others. Advancing in leagues as you win more battles is part of the fun I find in playing Splinterlands.

Advancement Reward Chests

The reward cards include many good ones. There's the "Extra" card Busy Beaver. It's a dual splinter melee card. I like it but it has a Reckless debilitation. I will have to pair it with a card with Painforge ability. There are a couple more rare cards Surgehammer and Torrent Sniper but the best is two copies of epic card Wailworn Specter. This brings my Wailworn Specter two BCX short to level three where she will gain a new Weaken ability.

This is another motivating factor for me to keep playing. The possibility of upgrading my cards and making my deck stronger and competitive. My goal is to have a complete set of reward cards with level five commons, level four rares, level three epics and level two legendaries. It will take a lot of seasons but it will keep me motivated to play.

Featured Battle - Xulax Nightwind against magic attackers.

The legendary gladiator card Xulax Nightwind is a great tank. He deals four melee damage and has three speed. On defense he has seven armor and seven health. What makes him a great tank aside from his stats are his defensive abilities against magic and melee attackers. He has Void Armor that utilizes his armor stat to block incoming magic attacks. His Thorns abilities returns damage to melee attackers. To support him I had Arachne Weaver for healing and a zero mana card to assist in dealing damage.

The enemy chose a magic team composed of legendary Daarg Deadblast flanked by two units with no attack but gained magic damage through Weapons Training. Their attacks were blocked by my tank's armor and got destroyed by his attacks.
