Unlocked Gold II League!

Hello Splinterlands summoners and welcome back to my blog!
Early in the new season, I unlocked Gold II League in Modern. It's great that I moved to this league early as it increased my SPS rewards earned per win. I was also rewarded with advancement chests that contained cards, among others. Advancing in leagues as you win more battles is part of the fun I find in playing Splinterlands.
Advancement Reward Chests

Not many cards in the rewards. There was only Oshannus, Phlegmor and Pixie-Knife Hurler. The rest were merits, scrolls and energy. I like the cards best especially if I can get legendary cards but this time the ones I got were mostly common and rare cards. It's possible to upgrade the cards you have from getting these reward cards.
This is another motivating factor for me to keep playing. The possibility of upgrading my cards and making my deck stronger and competitive. My goal is to have a complete set of reward cards with level five commons, level four rares, level three epics and level two legendaries. It will take a lot of seasons but it will keep me motivated to play.
Featured Battle - Shiraza vs Daarg Deadblast
I often compare Shiraza with Daarg Deadblast. I bought Shiraza because I thought she is more cost effective against the legendary Daarg Deadblast. They both have the powerful ability Weapons Training. Daarg Deadblast has Swiftness ability that adds speed to his team but Shiraza is more flexible being a neutral card and is much cheaper. In this battle, the enemy and I had the same idea of using Ulundin Overseer as tank and granted power by Weapons Training.

In this battle, I had my usual magic team led by Frontier archon Marlai Singariel. I had Ulundin Overseer as tank. His twelve health is a big plus and his lack of attack is solved by Weapons Training from Shiraza. I had another Frontier card, Mystic Scaleweaver who deals three magic damage and slows down the enemy team. Then I also had Shock Trooper who has four magic attack and speeds up my own team with Swiftness. To take advantage of Shock Trooper's electrified debilitation, I had Torrent Sniper on the team whose Painforge ability will add power every time he gets electrified.
The enemy had the same idea of using Ulundin Overseer as a tank and granted attack by Weapons Training. He also has Daigendark Surveyor in third position whose Magic Reflect will return damage to my magic attackers. He had the same units Mystic Scaleweaver and Mindless Thrall. In last, he had the voucher card, Conjurer's Hubris. I also have this card but only at level one so I don't use it that much. It's much better at level two when he gets his Apex Strike ability. It allows him to strike with melee from any position.
My small advantage in speed was crucial in this battle. It allowed my team to defeat enemy units before they can attack. In the battle where both teams had strong damage dealers, the one who attacks first has the advantage.
