Magalli's "SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! HILL GIANT!"

Today is the first day of the new age of Splinterlands!

Unfortunately, I started preparing this post yesterday, so it is an "old" battle.

So, let's talk about the Hill Giant, a magnificent bald creature.

222.png

1 ) Mana cost: 3 Low Mana cost considering its Health and considering the fact that it is a Melee Attacker and not a "passive" card.

2 ) Melee Attack: 1 Lowest Melee Attack possible...but one is better than nothing, and the Hill Giant's main task isn't dealing with damage.

3 ) Speed: 1 Not really good, it can't hope to evade the Opponent's Monsters attacks, nobody is perfect.

4 ) Expansion: Chaos Legion. I highlighted that because the Expansion of a card determines if the Monster can be played in Modern and Wild Format, or only in Modern Format.
This card can be played in both Formats because it is from the most recent expansion.

5 ) Health: 6 Really high stat, it makes the Hill Giant one of the best low Mana cost Tanks in the Modern Format.

6 ) Element: Earth It means that it can be used only with Earth and Dragon Summoners.

Please note: the Hill Giant has no Armor and no Ability.

Now let's talk about the favorable Rules of Combat for this card:

The Hill Giant's low Mana cost makes it useful in a lot of situations, I just highlighted the Rules where it can really shine. With "Little League" Rules thanks to its high Health it can resist a lot more than other low-cost Tanks for example. The other Rules just make it more resilient, and we will see that it is really important to have a nice tank for a Magic Deck as the Earth deck is.

So, now, let's see the battle and how the Hill Giant helped me reach the (spoiler) victory.

preparing.png

Rules Of Combat: Positive With "Reverse Speed" and "Spreading Fury" Rules the Hill Giant will be one of the fastest Monsters and it will improve also its Melee Attack stat after receiving damage.

Mana Cap: Positive With a low Mana Cap it will be easier to "make the difference" resisting the Opponent's Monsters' attacks for just 3 Mana.

Active Elements: Neutral Only the Fire is unavailable.

Summoner: Obsidian It is a summoner that gives a +1 bonus to Magic Attack, it doesn't help the Hill Giant directly, but it will help the Second Line's Magic Attack Monsters.

The Strategy: the strategy was really simple, I put in the first and second position two Tanks (if the Mycelic Morphoid can be called a Tank) to resist to the Opponent's Monsters direct hits, and I waited for my second lines Monsters to deal damages, considering the "Reverse Speed" Rules I preferred to cover the front line only because the Djinn Biljka can't be targeted unless it is in the first position and the Goblin Psychic had the Queen Mycelia's Armor bonus plus a nice 1 in Speed stat.

So, in the first position I placed the Character of the Week:

Luckily I have it Gold Foil so it is Level 3 and has a great 2 stat in Melee Attack.

In second position as I said before, I placed another Tank:

Another Gold Foil card, with a super useful ability, especially if mixed with the Queen Mycelia's +2 Armor bonus:

What a card... click here for a better analysis.

Behind the Queen Mycelia I placed the Healer/Damage Dealer:

It is worth all 6 Mana that it costs.

And in the last line I placed a sneaky Monster:

Let's see the battle:

Schermata 20220721 alle 16.55.26.png

My Opponent chose the Magic Deck "natural enemy" a Death Deck with the Thaddius Brood Summoner, my Magic Attacks were weakened and the fate of the battle was really uncertain.

Schermata 20220721 alle 16.56.02.png

The Hill Giant managed to protect my second line Monsters from some hits.

Schermata 20220721 alle 16.56.43.png

And I won, thanks to the Queen Mycelia's Ability and thanks to a little mistake by my Oppoent, they used the Death Elemental, a monster with the Snipe ability, that "targets enemy Monsters with Ranged, Magic, or no attack that are not in the first position", so it never directly hit my first line Monsters, allowing them to survive a bit more.

Final Consideration: The Hill Giant is an amazing low Mana cost Tank, it can resist really long and even deal some important damages.

Leveling up it learns the Stun Ability, becoming even more interesting... its real weakness though is the Speed stat.

Best Regard,
Magalli
