Magalli's "SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! MYCELIC SLIPSPAWN!"

This week let's talk about the Mycelic Slipspawn an interesting and useful card with the Taunt ability.

Before starting to talk about the card itself I would like to talk about the Taunt ability, especially for the Modern Format players it is a pretty rare ability, that only 3 cards (excluding legendary, expensive cards) have since level 1:

2.png

It is an ability that forces the Opponent's Monsters to attack the "Taunting Monster" and it is helpful practically in every ruleset because it allows us to predict where the Opponent's Monsters will hit, allowing us to protect our weaker Monsters and taking an enormous advantage on our Opponent.

That's why I didn't prepare a Favorable Rule Set tab because the Monsters with this ability are always useful IF there is enough Mana Cap, in fact, the Monsters with the Taunt ability have a high Mana cost.

This ability could seem rare, overpowered and uncounterable, well the new expansion Riftwatchers should solve these three problems by adding a new Ability and more "Taunting Monsters", if you didn't read about it yet, you can find more information HERE.

Ok, I'm sorry if I've lost too much time explaining the ability but it was important, let's see the card of this week:

1 ) Mana cost: 9 It is a really high Mana cost, but not that bad considering the stats and the ability, and it is under 10, so it doesn't trigger the "Giant Killer" ability (Double damage versus Monsters that cost 10+ Mana).

2 ) Magic Attack: 2 Really nice stat, remember, the Magic Attacks ignore the Armor.

3 ) Speed: 2 A bit low, the Mycelic Slipspawn can't hope to dodge a lot of attacks.

4 ) Expansion: Chaos Legion. I highlighted that because the Expansion of a card determines if the Monster can be played in Modern and Wild Format, or only in Modern Format.
This card can be played in both Formats because it is from the most recent expansion.

5 ) Health: 10 Really high stat, it is a Monster with the Taunt ability, so it needs to have it.

6 ) Element: Earth means it can be used only with Earth and Dragon Summoners.

7 ) Ability: Taunt Well, I already explained why it is such an important ability.

Please Note: The Mycelic Slipspawn doesn't have Armor.

The introduction to the card is over, let's see it in a battle!

Rules Of Combat: Always Positive All the Monsters will have the Opportunity ability so they should focus on the weakest Monster with their attacks, it will not happen thanks to the Mycelic Slipspawn's ability.
Also, the Mycelic Slipspawn will protect the Flying Monsters.

Mana Cap: Positive High Mana cap is enough to use the Mycelic Slipspawn and other useful cards.

Active Elements: Positive The absence of the Death element means that I don't have to worry about a reduction of the Magic Attacks.

Summoner: Obsidian My level 2 Obsidian is really good in this case, I will boost my Magic Attacks and I will be able to use up-leveled cards.

The Strategy: I chose a strategy to protect my flying Monsters, considering the Rule Sets.
While the Mycelic Slipspawn will take all the damages, the Queen Mycelia will extend the durability of my non-flying Monsters (thanks to the +2 Armor boost given by the Protect ability) and my Monsters will weaken and kill the Opponent's Monsters thanks to the Opportunity Rule Set.

The Equal Opportunity Rule Set allowed me to place the Pelacor Mercenary in the second position, so it will not receive damages from the Opponent's First liner, while it will still be able to attack.

So, in the first position, I placed the Character of the week:

High Health, high Magic Attack, and protection by the Queen Mycelia's Ability.

As I said I placed the "second tank" in the second position:

Thanks to my level 2 Obsidian Summoner I can use it at level 3, a really interesting and cheap reward card.

In the third position, the most "protected" spot I placed the "support":

This card is simply amazing (as I always write), if you can buy or rent it, it is a must-have Monster.

In the fourth position, I preferred to place the Uraeus instead of another Magic attack Monster because with its 1 in armor it could resist one more round to the Earthquake Rule Set:

This is another cheap reward card, really interesting, especially at level 2 because it gets a +1 in Melee Attack stat.

And, in the last position, I placed a quick flying Monster:

I preferred to place it in the last position because in case my Opponent chose a Fire Deck with Monsters with the Sneak ability, the Regal Peryton would have higher chances to dodge eventual attacks, allowing the Uraeus to live one more turn.

The strategy was set, let's see the battle:

My Opponent chose a Magic Deck too, but with too many low health Monsters and only one Flying Monster.

When the Mycelic Slipspawn dead, the Opponent's Monsters were already decimated, it worked well.

bat3.png

The Flying Monsters won and they were practically undamaged thanks to my strategy and thanks to the Mycelic Slipspawn's Taunt ability.

Nice victory and nice reward.

Final Consideration: The Mycelic Slipspawn is a really nice card with an important ability to learn how to use.

Leveling up it learns two new abilities that will make it even more useful, on one hand to resist high damage attacks and on the other hand to slow down all the Opponent's Monsters, amazing.

Magalli
