Today is August 5, 2025, our Bangladesh is celebrating the July Uprising Day, various political and non-political parties in Bangladesh are celebrating the day through various programs, currently, under the instructions of the Bangladesh Interim Government, today August 5 has been declared a holiday on the occasion of the July Uprising Day, due to which all educational institutions, offices and courts in Bangladesh are closed today.

Basically, on August 5, 2024, the then government of Bangladesh, the Awami League, fell on this day last year, the head of the caretaker government and the then Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, resigned from the post of the head of the government of Bangladesh on August 5 last year and fled the country, basically that is why today has been wrongly declared as the July Uprising.

On this day in 2024, due to the anti-discrimination student movement and the common people of Bangladesh joining those students, the Awami League government fell and the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to flee the country, this was the final result of the anti-discrimination student movement, they succeeded in this movement.

This movement originally started from the anti-quota movement, this movement was started to abolish quota in all areas of Bangladesh, later it started as a mass movement, the movement which was named as the anti-discrimination student movement, at that time almost all the people of Bangladesh joined this movement, in the face of the intense movement of the people, the head of the Awami League government and the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country.

At that time, the Awami League government was in power for about 17 years, Sheikh Hasina was the Prime Minister of the Bangladesh government for 17 years, during these 17 years, the Amir government carried out various activities, although they did some development in the country, they did more oppression and torture, especially making all kinds of arrangements to maintain their own words.

At first, the student movement started, students of various colleges and universities joined this movement and started the movement, but at that time, the leaders and activists of the Awami League government and members of the administration attacked the students and tried to attack them in various ways, in Dhaka at first, the students struggled to carry out the movement.

Then, when students gathered in all educational institutions across Bangladesh and started a movement, all the people of Bangladesh except the leaders and activists of the Awami League joined this movement, more than a hundred people were killed in this movement and countless people were injured, the current Awami League government shot and killed people with helicopters.

In the final stage of the movement, on August 5 last year, the Long March to Dhaka was announced by the anti-discrimination student movement, on that day people from all over the country started leaving for Dhaka, the administration imposed Section 144, the common people broke Section 144 and left for Dhaka, at one time all the people left for Ganabhaban, at that time Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled the country and the Awami League government fell.

Basically, today is the July Uprising Day of Bangladesh, various political parties have announced various programs on the occasion of this day, and they are the ones who are celebrating the day through programs, on the occasion, all government affairs, institutions and offices and courts are closed.
