My Actifit Report Card: July 23 2025
At one time, I used to work on welders. Not welding things together, but actually fixing them when they stopped working. The electricial company I worked for as an electrician had a workshop, and people would bring them in.
It sort of sounds funny now, but back in the old days, things were a bit simpler. Stuff was built to last and was worth repairing. We also did service calls to big factories. That is where I picked up this old welder. The customer wanted the high low switch changed out to a variable dial. I was not sure the best way to modify it, so I took it back to our workshop where it quickly got forgotten about.
Years later, after both my company and the old customer had changed, no one really wanted it. It just become out dated. I ended up taking it home and used to learn to weld. It came in handy every now and again. My son even had a go. We never did enough any good at it, but it was fun to try.
Cleaning out the shed today, I finally decided it had to go. I do not think it had any resale value, so it went to the scrap metal yard along with some other stuff.
