I was captured by the masquerade and was given the beatings of my life.

You got carried away by the whole excitement, to the extent that you didn't even care about your stomach.
I do feel sorry for you because after being beaten by the masquerades, your dad didn't even spare you. He still added more salt to the injury.
But I won't blame him though. He and the rest of your family must have been worried sick looking around for you.
