A Taste of Bengali Tradition: A Pictorial Report.

Friends, Assalamu Alaikum.
How are you all? I hope you are healthy and safe wherever you are. Today I am going to share with you some pictures of my Ramadan Iftar celebrations and some of our traditional Iftar culture.
The month of Ramadan is a month of self-purification and sacrifice. However, the scene in the afternoon of this month is different from any other time. It is hard to believe the hustle and bustle of the markets just before Iftar and the delicious food stalls. Even though our Iftar table has hundreds of dishes, iftar is incomplete without some traditional items.
In my first picture, you can see a huge collection of boot or chickpeas and onions-beeguni. Garnished with green chilies and coriander leaves, this dish makes your mouth water. Eating this spicy chickpea with muri and hot beeguni is a different pleasure. It is an integral part of our iftar.

If you look at the second and third pictures, you can see the bright yellow Bundiya. Among the sweet dishes, Bundia is a favorite of Bengalis. Many eat it plain, while others mix it with muri to create a strange combination of sweet and sour flavors. It is accompanied by crispy Nimki and fried jhuri, which adds extra crunchy flavor to the iftar plate. In addition, the ever-familiar Jilapi is also peeking out in the picture, without whose juicy bite, iftar seems incomplete.
Iftar for Bengalis is not just about food, it is a social gathering. These scenes of people crowding the roadside shops to buy iftar, or the whole family sitting together to spread the dastarkhan, show our harmony. When these crunchy market foods are added to homemade potato chops, begonias and sherbet, the satisfaction of Iftar increases several times.

These days of Ramadan teach us to be patient and at the end of the day, these blessings of Iftar help us to be grateful to our Creator. Through these simple pictures I have taken, I have tried to present our rich food culture to you.
What is your favorite item for Iftar? Don't forget to tell me in the comments!
Thank you everyone for reading my blog.
Anyway, this was my plan for today. I hope you liked the food photos I took. I will be back with more food photos like this. Wishing everyone good health, I bid farewell today. Wishing everyone good health, I bid farewell today.
