RE: Hive-Naija Weekend Engagement #32 - "Football"

It's my first time here and thanks to @hopestylist for inviting me here.

I love talking about football because football is life, to me. I used to play it and when things didn't work the way I wanted I had to switch to staying in the game by watching it.

I am a proud supporter of Manchester United and everyone knows how we have struggled since the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson left. Yes, we won a few cups but nothing compared to the glory days. I missed those days when we were competitive, the days where even an average player can become a pro by playing alongside world class players. Now, with this current team from last season, even a pro has been turned into an average player by the quality of players they get surrounded with.

My favourite league is the English Premier League and I watch almost all the games, whether from rival clubs or not. I am a fan of good football whether you are my rival or not. There is the place for banter but I still appreciate good football. I love how Chelsea play but sadly I cannot support them. You can't change your favourite club and I don't understand how so many people can easily love a club and then join another one the next season. I would love to see how Tottenham shape out this season. With their recruitments, they are absolutely ready for the EPL and the Champions League.

Arsenal would also be a team to watch with the inclusion of Gabriel Jesus. He has been in a serious form during the Pre-season. Chelsea? They are lacking quality upfront and if they don't sign a quality striker they might struggle for goals even though I love that team for one reason; anyone can score. Liverpool would be formidable again this season and I see them up there especially with the signing of Darwin Nunez. Manchester City? Oh well, Haaland struggled in the first competitive game and that's normal. They are working with a different shape this season and because of that, it would take a while before they adapt and start understanding each other runs.

As for Everton, as long as they still have Lampard as their coach, I don't see them achieve anything serious this season. As for my team; Manchester United...as we say here in Nigeria, "On God". I don't have any hope I won't lie but I can't change my club... I am still going to support them and hope to God our new signings would inject life into the team so we can at least challenge for the Champions League slot.
