Am 19. März 2026 starb Chuck Norris auf Hawaii. Er wurde 86 Jahre alt – was angesichts des Sprichworts durchaus überrascht: „Death once had a near-Chuck-Norris experience." Zehn Tage zuvor hatte er zu seinem Geburtstag noch ein Sparring-Video auf Instagram gepostet, kommentiert mit den Worten: „I don't age… I level up."

Norris war Karateweltmeister, Filmstar und Gründer zweier eigener Kampfsysteme – American Tang Soo Do und das „Chuck Norris System" – mit tausenden Praktizierenden weltweit. Zum Star wurde er durch seinen legendären Kampf gegen Bruce Lee in „Way of the Dragon" (1972), acht Staffeln lang verkörperte er danach den verwegenen „Texas Ranger" Cordell Walker.

Dem Ehrenkodex seines Kampfsystems blieb er auch abseits der Leinwand treu:
Kurz: Wachse über dich hinaus, vergiss alte Fehler, sei loyal zu Familie und Freunden, gönne anderen ihren Erfolg, und sag nichts über jemanden, wenn du nichts Gutes zu sagen hast.
In diesem Sinne trainierte er drogengefährdete Kinder im Kampfsport, unterstützte die Make-A-Wish Foundation und setzte sich – geprägt vom Koreakrieg – zeitlebens für US-Veteranen ein. 2001 wurde er dafür mit dem Veteran of the Year Award ausgezeichnet.

Unsterblich jedoch machte ihn das Internet: Die „Chuck Norris Facts" – One-Liner, die seit über 20 Jahren viral gehen und seine Härte ins absurd Mythische überhöhen – wurden zum bekanntesten Meme-Format der Internetgeschichte. Er selbst schätzte sie sehr. Sein Favorit: „They once tried to carve Chuck Norris's face into Mount Rushmore, but the granite wasn't hard enough for his beard."

On March 19, 2026, Chuck Norris died in Hawaii. He was 86 years old—which is quite surprising given the saying: “Death once had a near-Chuck-Norris experience.” Ten days earlier, he had posted a sparring video on Instagram for his birthday, commenting: “I don’t age… I level up.”

Norris was a karate world champion, movie star, and founder of two martial arts systems of his own—American Tang Soo Do and the “Chuck Norris System”—with thousands of practitioners worldwide. He became a star through his legendary fight against Bruce Lee in “Way of the Dragon” (1972), and for eight seasons he portrayed the daring “Texas Ranger” Cordell Walker.

He remained true to the code of honor of his martial art even off-screen:
