984 Protests This Labor Day and Workers Are Just Getting Started

source

Huge reaction from yesterday's blog on Trump's executive order, especially because it was close to Labor Day.

This Labor Day, workers across the United States are saying something very clear, very loud you can't even pretend not to see it at this point. The fed workers are fed up and workers across America have also had enough. Hundreds of rallies, marches and actions, happening from Alaska to Hawaii.

These events are not your regular parades or gatherings of people saying stuff regarding multiple things. The event is almost literally a cry from workers who feel pushed down, ignored and cheated while some billionaires and politicians enjoy the benefits of the workers' labor.

I'm not against building a business empire and becoming a billionaire, I'm for, being responsible and treating right the people that helped you build that empire.

What we are seeing now is a moment where working people are finally standing up stronger than ever before to policies that are designed to strip them of their dignity.

Under the current administration, workers have been hit with cuts that are not small at all, they are life changing cuts. Rights that were fought for by past generations are being erased in a matter of months and seconds of signings.

It's all being done in the name of progress but the reality has a negative effect on the very people who keep this country running.

One of the most dangerous moves is the attempt to take away collective bargaining rights from one million federal workers.

Let's put that into some perspective. That's one million people losing their ability to negotiate for fair pay, safe conditions and basic respect on the job.

It came as a result of policy changes but I don't see it as just a change in policy, this is the biggest act of union busting in U.S. history. The voice of workers matter. If you're a leader you're going to be better off listening more to your workers than giving instructions. Because it is in listening that you get full understanding of the state of people that make your system or organization operate.

On top of all that, federal contractors have seen their minimum wage slashed from $17.75 an hour down to $13.30

In some other countries, it's good money that can handle bills but, like the famous song, "This Is America". Imagine trying to raise a family, pay rent or even cover basic groceries on that wage. It doesn't end there because at the same time, rules are being pushed to strip protections from 3.7 million childcare and home care workers, who are even some of the most underpaid and overworked people in the country.

The disabled workers are also being targeted, with the minimum wage requirements for them being rolled back. The most vulnerable are getting more vulnerable.

The question is who benefits from all these changes? Is it the teachers, the nurses, the construction workers, the federal employees who give decades of their lives in service?

The big winners here are billionaires, corporations and the powerful few who already sit at the top. The only solution I could give to myself is to become powerful too but not everyone will become powerful. Infact the majority of the world are not and will not so the majority should be a good focus in making policies.

The people are not staying silent anymore regarding this matter. I will emphasize again that I'm not against becoming a billionaire. Build your empire to any height but it's fair to consider the conditions of the masses.

According to a new poll, more than half of Americans trust labor unions more than they trust either political party. That alone in of itself says a lot about how they feel with regards to the current policies. The realization which has led to these protests is that the only real voice for fairness comes from workers standing together, not from promises made by politicians who seem to be putting billionaires in the front row.

These protests are happening everywhere, not just in Washington, D.C. because the pain is everywhere. From Alaska to Maine, from Chicago to Los Angeles. They're on the streets. It's necessary since the nation was built on their labor they should have a voice.

It's not just about wages at this point, they are fighting for freedom which they were supposed to have by default. It's also about fairness and rights. The right to live with dignity, raise their kids without constant fear of poverty and struggle coming in to make them incompetent of handling the home.

Most importantly, it's a fight to create a system that does not look like it is rigged against them.

The polices being made have a severe effect. It will end up weakening unions, cutting wages, striping protections and silencing anyone who attempts or even looks like they're attempting to resist. However, workers are human beings and human beings have threshold for what they can take and clearly the limit has been reached, ergo the protests all over.

What is happening this Labor Day is not the end of the fight, it is actually the beginning of the fight. More than 984 actions are already planned, with the goal of passing 1,000. Workers from all backgrounds are coming together because they know if federal workers have been touched, it's a matter of time and all workers will too.

Workers are the backbone of any nation, society or platform. Without them, nothing moves. All you'll have are mere ideas that cannot be executed.

Instead of upgrading the pay, they are downgrading it, and even the benefits. That is really sad.

Oh yes it's left to them to make the right decisions in favor of the people that voted them into power
