Being Real and Being Liked
Every person on this earth has different values, tastes and opinions, most of which I might add, are very subjective. No two people are entirely the same, not even super identical twins. Because of these differences, what feels and looks honest to you might upset someone else.
They have a saying "one man's meat is another man's poison". Interests are entirely different. So trying to please everyone means changing yourself over and over again to fit they're perspective.
If you want to be a people pleaser, nobody's going to stop you from trying but you should know that when you keep doing that, you start to lose who you really are.
Real people say what they honestly think and not what the masses would want them to think or say. Don't be a jerk of course, but don't hide what you truly believe because of objections from others, because that would make you dishonest. You'd be surprised, people in the end would have preferred an honest opinion against their own opinion than a dishonest one that deceives them.
Being real can make some people respect you more and that is more valuable than being liked. However, know that being real can make others turn away from you. People that don't share in your interest are not going to be part of your circle when you start being real.
That is not a bad thing at all, it’s just how life works. We can't all like the same stuff and therefore we can't all have the same opinions since interests most of the times influences opinions.
Even the kindest people in the world have critics who see them as evil people. From teachers to leaders, to artists, they have fans and haters.
No matter how much good they do, someone will disagree or judge them.
A trait in human beings is that, some people like honesty and some people like comfort. Some people actually like to be lied to, they prefer that to telling them reality. When you do tell them the real truth, they could even say you're being negative or pessimistic when you're just being real with them.
So if you choose honesty, not everyone will feel comfortable with you and you will feel that resistance to your honest opinion.
That shouldn't stop you from keeping the opinion though because pretending to be someone else or pretending you agree when you don't, only brings fake approval. You want genuine happiness? It's come from being known and accepted for who you are.
Now if you're not accepted by everyone, that's perfectly fine, as long as you're doing what's morally right and also legal.
When you practice honesty and being real, you'll find that the right people will stay. The right people are people who see your heart, not just your surface.
Being liked by everyone is an impossibility. Infact there are celebrities you adore and think of them as great, you'd be surprised someone will look and watch the celebrity in action and not be impressed at all. You can't force them to like what you like. Also don't force yourself to like what you genuinely don't.
Of course in relationships and partnerships, there are compromises but don't be in any relationship that would require you to be fake just to keep it .
Know that when you choose to live honestly, you may lose some friends but you would gain your peace and you'll bring the best out of you, because you're doing you, and no one can do you better than you can.
Never aim to be everyone’s favorite, aim to be your real self every day.

Being a people pleaser also just makes you end up in an endless amount of contradictions. You just build up a house of alternate truths, a house of cards, that will some day just not hold up anymore. Being your true self is always best!
It's a profound thing you just said, it's just a matter of time before the house of cards come crashing down on the one thag built it
