So Trump has been saying food prices are coming down. I heard him say it the last time on the news and then I thought maybe the people of America are just not seeing it (sarcasm intended) but when they go to the grocery store it's not Trump's story they see as their reality. The administration in support of Trump keep doing the same thing, they spread false claims to look like everything is ok and when we compare arguments to data and reality, they just find it difficult to explain themselves and back their claims.

Look at this back and forth between Senator Warren and Secretary Of The Treasury Scott Bessent happened and you can tell how almost angry Warren was when the Treasury secretary seems to be dodging the question.

Bessent was saying lots of prices are going down and Warren pulled out data from The Bureau Of Labor Statistics which shows food prices increased 2.4% from the end of 2025 vs previous year end.

It could look to some that things like eggs and potatoes have come down in cost but coffee was up near 20%. Then all types of candy and meats have also gone up and The Department Of Agriculture is predicting more price increases for 2026, they may have already started.

This is all confusing for most Americans because on the news you hear one thing and at the check out you hear something totally different. Some things you feel like are cheaper when you pick them up, but in general the total seems to keep going up on your bill.

I sometimes don't know what to think about all of this. You may argue as to what specific types of items are more important to individual households, but the overall picture seems to be quite clear based on the official data.

I may not be in America but a similar thing is happening in my country and inflation is just making everything worse each day. If you're in America though and you are standing there watching the cashier scan your items keep in mind the data they have does not necessarily match up with what some people are claiming to be true.
