Is taking Cashew Nuts good or bad for Cholesterol?

I love cashews nuts it's almost a tradition snack for Saturdays but some people have an opinion about it with regards to cholesterol.

I go to the kitchen knowing my mom will always keep some snacks, her idea of snacks is all natural foods never cookies. She's really old fashioned.

Some people might tell you that cashews raise your cholesterol levels and after listening to that you might start avoiding cashews, seeing them as bad for you. I was advised to do so by a friend a few days ago, and I was shocked that she actually believed what she was saying. The reason I was surprised is that cashews do not contain cholesterol at all and she didn't know that so has formed a diet where she stays completely away from cashews and even most nuts.

Believe me, you can eat cashews regularly without bothering about an increase in your cholesterol levels. What you will actually be getting is healthy fats, which are great for the heart. A handful of cashews will also give you some magnesium, copper or protein, which are necessary for your body functioning.

But bottom line is it depends on how much you eat as well as everything else you’re doing to your body, including everything else you eat, how much you exercise, how much you sleep, and so on. The obvious word here is balance.

Life is healthy only in keeping a balance of all things over time. You take too little water or no watee, you die. You take too much water and too quickly, you die. Too hot, you die, too cold, you die. Too much of many factors will result in the body getting sick and dying just like too little of those same factors.

My point is that your health isn’t so much about good or bad as it is about the right balance of factors. More of a good thing can make it bad and less of a bad thing can make it good.

So the real concern about cashews is that if taken in large amounts, they might be a source of gaining calories since they also belong to high caloric food. But just know that it is not the nuts that raise cholesterol but the general factor of getting extra calories.

Raw or lightly roasted cashews are good for you. So just in case you didn't know, well now you do, stop wondering whether cashews raise cholesterol, they don't. Eat them regularly if you like them and you can add to your daily diet.

There's a stash of them at my uncle's farm so we get unlimited free supply, more if a family perk.
