Is the economy improving or just being framed that way?

There's just so many videos on social media about Trump just talking about how the economy is getting better. And there are analysts who may or may not disagree with him and the claims of his administration.
Whether legit or not it's only the real data that'll show. The DOW Jones has never broken 50,000 until February 6. So, that part is true. If you're wondering what DOW is, it's a famous list used to see how the U.S. stock market is doing.

But, many of the other claims he made, I wouldn't say are very clear.
For example, he talks about how gas prices were $1.85 in Iowa. This one looks super low. Probably there might be some random station somewhere at that price, but the average price for gas in Iowa is more like $2.50. That said, the average for gas across the nation is around $2.89. So at least we can say gas prices have dropped, but just not as mostly as Trump claims they have, not everywhere and the drop was not very quick.
There are a few cities that have recorded rents at their lowest price in four years. But, my research and what people say online shows that many people don't feel that housing has become affordable so it is still a little tight for a lot of people. Maybe that the situation is overall not as bad as it was in the past or maybe that's based on your location but I'm not in America so I can say for sure.
My issue is with the methods in which people are talking about this stuff. The stock market claim is a simple check to see if it's true. But statements that prices are falling at a phenomenal pace will give an expectation of quick relief that many people are not feeling yet.
But at the end of the day numbers don't always add up and some of this is true and some of it is exaggerated, that's typically how all of this stuff works.
