Like a Lily

Photos belongs to me

I usually like to watch things in life, learn from them and associate them to our lives to learn lessons from them. I watch a lily flower and I am amazed at something special about it.

A lily will always grow back year after year because that’s how they are created, from an underground bulb, quietly reaching into the sun every year. There is also something persistent about a lily’s life because it has a way of overcoming obstacles, bad weather conditions, a cold, frozen ground and simply continues its journey back into the world to display its beauty for all to see.

There are also some people who reflect that same trait as the lily does and I admire them and wish to be a person like that. They are not the loudest people in the room, and they do not celebrate every victory they achieve posted on social media.

They are usually the steady people in our lives, those who, during times of extreme challenges, won't give up on us or may disappear for a period of time only to eventually return. They may return to us a little bruised and wiser than before, but they are still blooming and still contributing to our life. A good family, a great friend, a wonderful spouse.

I have always admired those type of people because life sometimes does not allow room for people who are softhearted.

We experience seasons that can be accompanied by feelings of disappointment, burnout, heartbreak and a fog of confusion where we are merely struggling to stay afloat. You could feel lofe punishing you and you wonder what went wrong.

But despite all this, the people who reflect the same trait of the lily will continue to grow again, come back to being who they were before whatever was throwing them off happened.

I want to tell you this, and let no one tell you otherwise, being a lily in a life full of bad news does not make you weak, in the contrary, it is an act of bravery. You are a person of grace and you are so deeply rooted that you have faith in your ability to come back to life again.
