Making the Hard Call
Have you ever been in a situation where you had to make a really tough decision for your life or even on behalf of a group, team or family you're part of?
It's a lot of pressure and you'd wish someone else would be the one to make the call not you but it just had to be you. Thos happens especially in the worl place. There will always come a moment like that in the life of a person.
I watched Mission impossible - fallout last night and there was this one quote that Tom Cruise or his character Ethan Hunt said that made me think about this thing about life.
He said
Somebody has to be the one to make the hard call.
Someone needs to step up and take one for the entire team. Having to make the call only means doing what needs to be done even if it's not exactly the easy way out. I try as much as i can to avoid taking shortcuts in life and make the hard decisions. It's a matter of the right thing and not the comfortable thing to do.
Let's say we're in class and there's just this one person that bullies practically every other student. Bullies never stop unless they're confronted. The question is who in that class has the guts to make the call snd address the issue. Bullies also know that they can't fight everyone on their own so they form a gang to appear stronger but the reality is their gang is not strong enough to face the entire class and thy know it. They hope you don't figure it out. All it takes os one person calling it out and yes you could risk not having any support from the others since they're all afraid and that means you'll get the full backlash or consequence of standing up to them. But that's the only way for mutual respect to be created, when you make the call.
Having a demonstration against what a government is doing os a brave stand and it's always something one person decides to do and encourage a few friends or teammates and that creates a ripple effect for more people to join and have their voices oppose the wrong being done.
It always has to start from someone.
I try ao had in my family to be that one person knowing so well that it comes with its bad side.
But I have learned that action is sometimes better than silence. If no one decides to act, problems can get worse. Sometimes, you just have to be the one who decides and takes the lead. That I believe is how real change begins.

Great film, I must say. And you're right, real change happens or begins when someone takes the leap and initiates it. As to your example of bullying, it will continue unless someone dares to step up and say ENOUGH!
Yes it's something that used to happen during my school days, it took one bold friend of mine
