Pringles has customers in a Shrinkflation trap
To continue celebrating the Christmas festive, I bought Pringles, opened up the can and there was something off about it. Even though the can looked to be the exact same shape and size, when I held it upright the chips only went halfway up the can. I thought maybe I bought an old batch of chips or someone had messed with it and creatively kept the top sealed to look new.
It turns out, that was not the case. A couple of my friends complained about the same thing and obviously this person on X is fuming.

He's not exaggerating when he says 20 percent of the new can is empty, I would have said 30 percent.
They still have the same sized cans, but in some places including where I live, they have reduced the contents from 200g to 185g, and in other places, all the way down to 165g. You would think it would be cheaper but the cost is the same as before. I wouldn't bother going to exoensi areas, it's ridiculously higher there.
Clever company right? Most of us are eating less and do not even check the net weight on the side of the package, we still see the familiar red can and assume that it is the same as always, it is not and a lot of people have already noticed the Shrinkflation. You are getting less food for your money, but the manufacturers are banking on you not realizing it or accepting it because for some reason I'm as addicted to their brand as some dude in therapy is about cocaine (sarcasm definitely intended here)
Now that I take the time to check the weights, I still forget at times. Just this month I bought a bag of cookies without checking and when I got home I realized it was smaller than I thought, it was the same brand and packaging, but way less than I remembered it to be. Problem is it's affecting way too many foods.
So now what do I do? Should I change brands? It's not exactly a guaranteed success since they all do it. Not everyone can make their own snacks,I simply don't have enough time or the discipline to do that as many times as I go out to buy them.
I guess it's just one of those things we have to accept. Or keep searching for new brands that will give more. I'm trying Lay’s Stax, if they disappoint, I'll move on to the next. The price continues to increase and the total portion decreases, maybe I'm being dramatic about it but at some point we'll get empty can if they don't stop. I still buy Pringles occasionally even though I know I am getting less for my money. Maybe that says something about me.
