Rescue dog becomes rescuer of old lady

Eeyore is a dog who once needed help but later became a hero himself (or itself) . Some years back, in 2019 to be precise, this rescue dog Eeyore was hit by a car near Pensacola, Florida. Sadly that accident left him with a badly broken leg and it seemed he may not make it for long.

The dog was later taken to a local shelter called L&R Rescue. They hep injured and homeless animals. Some people thought it would be better if the dog was put to sleep because the injury was way too serious.

But the rescue team decided to make the effort to save this poor dog instead and they went ahead to pay for a complex surgery.

The surgical operation the dog went through was no simple one. They used bone plates to fix his broken femur and thankfully that helped the dog walk again.

The dog stayed at the shelter for some weeks and was recovering from the painful injury. The shelter spent thousands of dollars to make sure he could recover fully, boy were they determined to rescue this one. It took a while but Eeyore finally got better and was able to live a happy life again.

This is were the story gets very interesting. Years later, around September 2025, Eeyore in a beautiful way showed how grateful and loyal he truly was, at least that's how to describe what the dog did.

One evening, around 10:30 p.m. an elderly man in Okaloosa County called the sheriff’s office. The man said his wife had gone out to walk Eeyore but had not come back for almost an hour. The very troubled husband told the deputy that his wife had never stayed out this long.

Deputy Devon Miller arrived quickly to take his report and to begin searching the area. Miller went outside into the dark night to look for the woman and the rescue dog.

Just a few minutes later, Eeyore suddenly appeared, walking toward the deputy’s patrol car. The deputy spoke calmly to the dog, asking, "Hi baby, where’s your mama?"

So funny because it's as if the dog understood. Surprisingly, Eeyore turned and began leading the deputy to a location.

The dog guided Miller across a yard, past a house and onto a golf course behind it. When they arrived, lying on the sidewalk was the missing 86 year old woman.

She was conscious but already having a medical problem, she could not move by herself. She had collapsed. The deputy told her that Eeyore had brought him right to her location.

The woman was amazed as everyone else was. She said Eeyore refused to leave her side. The paramedics soon arrived, took her to the hospital and said that she would make a full recovery soon.

So the rescue shelter that once saved Eeyore received many messages of love and thanks for bringing such a life saver.

The people watching said they were touched by the way the dog returned the kindness he had been shown.
