So they're gossiping about you huh

Haters gonna hate, but the problem is some people give way too much attention to the haters. People will people, that's a term I learned earlier this year. People will talk behind our backs whether we like it or not.

They're going to say things about you that you really don't want to hear. Constructive criticism is another thing, but a lot of people get their name and reputation dragged through the dirt by gossips.

If you achieve something great in life, your case is much worse, you're going to be a topic for bloggers, friends and enemies. Even when you do good, some people will find a way to make it look bad by their words.

It's embarrassing sometimes when you hear the things people say about you when you're not there. They smile when you're there but the minute you turn around they've got something to say.

Naturally it's going to bother you when you realize someone is talking bad about you behind your back, and you feel that way because we all want to protect our image, well at least most of us.

How do you handle this situation? You can't just say, I don't give a fuck and move on because you probably do care about how people see you. But this thought in your mind can help you move on while they keep talking about you because trust me, they won't stop.

If they're gossiping about you, it means you matter. Your topic is worth their time and their life, think about that, you've got permanent real estate in their minds.

So who's greater than who now? It's rhetorical, you know the answer.

You are important enough to be noticed by them.

You're alive and very active in their minds, you own their brains, basically. If you think about it that way, you will eventually stop worrying about what they're saying.

Of course accusations can get you into trouble even if you're innocent. It can bring shame and disgrace, people that respect you can be deceived by the gossips and they start to see you differently. However, if you're truly innocent, give it some time, the truth will come out.

You can decide to fight to defend your honor, I won't stop you from doing that, but don't stress and worry about the people talking behind your back.

If no one is talking about you, it's probably because you either don't matter to them or haven't done anything that gets their attention. So if they are, take it in a positive light that you're making a mark and that's why you're being seen.

It's a natural trait in people, they only spend energy talking about what catches their attention, and guess what, you caught their attention so good they spent their short lives talking about you.

You may not like what they have to say, it's usually unfair when you're innocent but it is proof that you are making impact so don't let that stop you from doing what you're already doing to make progress in your own life.

Some people make the mistake of trying to change themselves, hide or prove the gossipers wrong. That's the worst way to respond to this situation. In that way, they're controlling you instead of you controlling you.

Trying to please everyone is impossible but it's more impossible to try and please a hater. You have zero control over what people say, so please give zero fucks regarding it if only it's destructive criticism, but take good advice and constructive criticisms or remarks so you can become a better person.

Regardless of what they say, just focus on your work, your goals and your happiness. Your success will speak for itself, you don't have to do that work.
