T.V may already be dead, it's big screen that is relevant
This tweet just says it all doesn't it?

How many people still watch T.V? Of course there's T.V in most homes that can afford it but, tell me, besides Netflix and maybe the news or your favorite show which you've decided not to use Internet to watch, do you watch that much T.V at all?
We could go weeks in our house without ever even considering watching the T.V. It has become mainly about decoration at this point.
I actually still remember when the TV was the centerpiece of every living room. It kinda is but not for use, just the concept of, "oh we have a big ass T.V"
A time back, most families would gather after dinner to watch their favorite shows together and since those shows come live at certain times, everyone's schedule was set to make sure they got there on time. It was quite an experience.
Years ago, myself and my siblings even plan weekends around prime events.
But nowadays, all of that experience appears to be fading away.
If not for the fact that people want to watch large screens broadcast Netflix, YouTube or Prime Video, I think TVs would have already been the sort of thing you see in people's basements.
The smartphone is the king today. A lot of them are even more expensive than flat screen T.Vs. Have you seen the latest iPhones and Google Pixels? My God what a price tag just for a phone.
The Smart phone is essentially televisions, radios, computers and cameras all combined and can fit inside your pocket, it's no surprise it took over like that because now, why would anyone wait until 8 to watch a show on cable when you can click an app and see it right away?
Channel surfing is dead because you can simply search, click and watch precisely what you want on your phone, and you could do it privately too.
It's not just convenience alone, smart phones are so personal nowadays, and the app algorithms are set to bring you what you usually like. Traditional Televisions couldn't do that because channels are operated with their own events which they can just stop at anytime.
I can watch an episode of a series in bed, see a sports highlight reel on my way to work or even replay my favorite film on the bus. I don't have to fight my siblings for the remote or get angry because the T.V people decided they won't show the program today for whatever reason.
You can skip an ad on YouTube but not on T.V. so I believe it's not just convenience but also the control we have over what we can watch.
But with all what I've said, I still kind of see why people still cling to their TVs today. It's the big screen concept and also the flex that they have a cool T.V in the living room.
Also, sport looks better in 4K anyways. I occasionally stream an episode from my phone just to watch it full screen. But seriously, this doesn't need TV in the way we know it.
It kind of mean T.V is already dead, it's big screen that makes them still relevant if you really think about this.
