The big bang Theory series myths that aren't true

There’s been so much revisionism on TBBT that people perpetuate stuff that’s just not accurate but it's plausible enough to continue in Reddit threads and YouTube comments.

Such as the anecdote about Jim Parsons being up for Leonard, it never happened that way. Quite the opposite actually, Johnny Galecki was offered Sheldon first but he wanted to play Leonard. He wanted to do the girlfriend stuff and be the straight man. Jim Parsons read specifically for Sheldon and crushed the role so wl that Lorre made him read twice just to ensure it wasn't a fluke. Imagine being that good that no one believes you.

Another myth is that Penny was a guest character who worked so well they made her a regular. That’s another no. In the original pilot there was no Penny. There was a Katie, played by Amanda Walsh and Katie was a cunt. The pilot tested badly because audiences felt like Katie was a bully and the gang were a bunch of victims. That's fiir enough and they’re going for a cuddly series. They basically shit canned the pilot, created the concept of Penny as a nicer character, a fulcrum character and when Kaley Cuoco was cast as Penny she was a series regular from the outset.

I don’t get so worked up about the science stuff. People seem to think they just threw equations at the wall and hoped it looked good. But that's not true, accuracy was there. The show actually hired a physics professor, David Saltzberg and what you see on the whiteboards is actual physics. Even the timeline depicted in the opening titles is correct, in sequence. Not that anyone really noticed or even cared about it.

I didn’t watch the show regularly and I'll confess I downloaded it from a website so not exactly mainstream paying for the movie so I didn't get all episodes. But when I watched it I didn’t doubt they were at least trying with the physics. That was the only part that was real, everything else was a sitcom.

My favorite thing is the Sheldon three knocks, in this episode Penny tried it and admitted it was a bit enjoyable.
