This Grass eating beast bites harder than a lion

If you're looking for a badass animal that still eats grass, the hippopotamus is your best example. I did a little research on their bite force because why not, if you look at the sheer size of the mouth and teeth you just have to ask yourself what that thing can crash.

From my research I learned they have a bite of 1,800 PSI (that means pounds per square inch). Just to put that into perspective, the human bite is around 160 PSI and a lion’s is about 650 PSI, so a hippo can bite almost 3x harder than a lion ever can. When you think about how much we have built lions up in our minds as the ultimate predator, that's just funny.
Hippos really don't even look like they would be super dangerous animals if they have their mouths closed. They are very large and fat, hang out in the water and look lazy, but they kill more people in Africa than probably any other animal, I'm not sure if that's true or not, but I heard that somewhere once and have never seen any proof yet though.
It's a little hard to visualize the bite force of 1,800 PSI and what that would do to a person. I don't really want to find out, becomes your remains won't be pretty at all.
It's funny how we underestimate animals because they don't fit our criteria for being dangerous, and we build up other animals to be dangerous so they can't be seen as anything different than what we perceive them to be. A hippo doesn't have the apparent speed or sharpness of a Jaguar or tiger, it appears to be slow. I would have added cute if not for that mouth. On my list of animals to not piss of or go close to without a professional caretaker or security around, Hippo is at the top of the list.

The hippopotamus is one of the most dangerous animals in the animal kingdom. As you rightly say, we underestimate it because of its appearance, and that's what makes it so dangerous.
Thanks for sharing your reflection with us.
