What you can't change

This morning, I was thinking about this quote, "If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude." It seems like the absolute cliche and I saw it that way till I had to think deep about it.
A week ago, I filed a complaint about my commute, and while I was doing so, I also listened to a podcast and learned something interesting about American history that changed my attitude and made it easier to sit in traffic. If I had focused on my anxiety, I would have wasted my time worrying for no reason. How many times have we done that throughout our lives? So many times, if you have a car and you've driven in a heated traffic you know what I mean.
Then I also thought back to a few years ago when I had a job that I hated. There were things I wanted to change, but when I talked to my manager about them he just ignored it like I was just telling some random story. Eventually I quit, which turned out to be the best decision I ever made. I changed what I could.
When it comes to big issues like climate change or political issues, we often think that there's nothing we can do. That's definitely not the case, as we do have to vote, recycle, and get the word out about them. So when you feel like nothing can be done, just adjust your own perspective. The only true thing under your control is you.
So when you can't actively do anything to make the situation any better at the moment, you can't most definitely change your mindset, and as your mind is changed, you'll be better equipped to handle the situation and even come out well
