Why indecision costs more than mistakes

I've spent too long trying to figure out what to eat for lunch. I'm embarrassed to admit this because you might probably think I'm petty for being like that, but it's true. I stand there staring at the menu as if my whole life depends on it when I just need to eat.

The problem with having a lot of options is that it doesn't help at all. You'd think having more options would help you choose better, but mostly it just ends up making you more confused. I remember my sister looking into different options for a college course. She had five great choices and it made her life miserable, she kept flipping back and forth until almost the last minute.

I simply try to limit my decision making opportunity by just choosing 2 to 3 reasonably good ones and disregarding the rest. Not perfect though, but workable enough. Otherwise, waiting for the perfect option means you are stopping your life while time moves on.

Indecision costs you things. You miss opportunities and people without the problem move forward without you. Sometimes making a decision that is 70% correct is better than waiting for 3 weeks to make a decision that is 85% correct.

The only thing I'm trying to say is that for most part, moving is better than staying where you are.

Your gut instinct usually knows what your brain doesn't know yet. It's not always right, but most of the time it's close enough to worth listening to. As you become better at making decisions, you will find patterns in how you make them. It turns out speed means more than I thought it did.
