You can't handle the truth but a lie is worse

A painful truth is way better than just a pleasant lie. The harsh words of the truth might hurt a little and sting only for a moment but nothing is more devasting than the damage that lies do over the course of time. Although a lie may feel good and is a comfortable truth at the moment, it blinds you to the truth.

When you confront a painful truth, it allows you to take action in the right direction. You are able to fix mistakes and grow stronger and wiser. Lies do nothing but just give you a false sense of security and you end up doing nothing because of it.

Reflect on your life and the decisions you have made. You probably have had the experience of receiving honest feedback, and even though it may hurt a little, it helped you learn in the end. When someone lies to you, it is just a false base for you to make decisions that can cost time and trust.

You should be able to handle the truth from yourself and also keeping the truth from people just increases the pain that comes from it. Pain is something that leaves you at some point after healing, but lies and regret are things that last your life time.

Always choose honesty. You have to be honest with your team, your friends and most importantly yourself.

Failure is common for those who don’t keep the pursuit of truth in their lives. Thomas Jefferson had a quote I love do much.

If I am to succeed, the sooner I know it, the less uneasiness I shall have to go through. If I am to meet with a disappointment, the sooner I know it, the more of life I shall have to wear it off.

Now is the time for truth. Respect the failure, but know that you can withstand the pain of the truth, because it saves you from greater suffering.

But I'll tell you something interesting about why people lie. Most of the times, our lies are the product of us wanting to simplify our own messed up situation or avoid certain negative outcomes or feelings. So the truth is we don't really like lies but we do appreciate what they can do for us. However it's what they can do for now, eventually a lie told will catch up to you and it's only a matter of time.

Some lies make someone seem or look more important, more powerful, or more interesting to however they're trying to impress or gain validation from and it's more like a shield to avoid the feeling of being a failure in the eyes of others. But the question is why fake what could have been real? Don't live a lie or believe one. Always seek the truth.
