Spiritual Discipline as the Foundation of Biblical Counseling

My perspective on what it really means to be involved in a church has been impacted after reading Chapter 7's teaching on spiritual training and biblical counseling. I tend to think of biblical counseling as simply a skill set that demands a thorough understanding of the Bible and the appropriate techniques for mentoring another. Treatment that works starts with the counseling professional's own relationship with God, not with method, as this information is made clear to me. Without self-discipline, we lack the moral authority important to lead people to Christ and become exposed to mistakes, wrongdoing, and exaggerated service.

I understood the value of having a strong connection to a specific church. I am shielded from feeling alone and ego by honesty, connection to others, and surrender to spiritual guidance. Additionally, service is more than just a weekly schedule; it's a belief system that keeps my attention on God rather than on the challenges of emotional support. My ministry is also strengthened by strong biblical teaching and the desire to be Christ-like. A lot of people's problems are caused by false beliefs about the Lord, sinning, or salvation. I am unable to help people grow in true teaching and to live up to Him if I am neglecting to do so personally. On the other hand, good leadership serves as a reminder that this calling of service is a privilege from God Himself, and I should be using my capabilities and assets only to serve His majesty. The topic was balanced by the parts on connections with people and with oneself. As essential parts of a similar practice, outreach and mentoring are not comparable to counseling. Guidance works best when it comes from continuous coaching and instructing, and we are unable to lead anyone to Christian life if they have no prior knowledge of Christ. It's important to set an example by serving others with humility, being responsible, and the importance of feedback in a helpful way, and living by it. Also, a tired body and mind can't operate well, so it's important to have a practical discipline that ensures regular rest, workouts, and maintaining health.

To conclude, this topic encouraged me to see life from God's point of view in each aspect. Anything I do cannot be separated from His intentions. Every activity I engage in, studying, offering prayers, doing service, or spending time alone, adds to my preparations to serve. I've concluded that biblical counseling by definition is an interdisciplinary purpose. It demands constant improvement, sincere reflection, and strict behavior. In order to glorify the Lord when it comes to my living and my opinion, I must initially maintain a personal devotion to Him before seeking ways to assist others.
