A HIGH VALUE COMMODITY

Death is inevitable, and the life of every living thing must come to an end someday. It is destined for man to live once, and after life comes death. The awareness of this on its own gives life meaning, pushing us to make choices that matter, build relationships, and make decisions that give our lives an essence. It comes in a different form to everyone, which makes it impossible for anyone to know when they will die or how they will die.

This week's prompt asks us to talk about a device that could tell an individual's death time; however, not everyone can afford to own such a device. Will I want to own this device? If so, what do I plan to do with the device?

If a device of that nature is in existence, I would love to own the device, as owning this device does not translate to me wanting to know the time I have left on earth. I guess I probably will love to know how I will eventually die, but I doubt I would love to know when. The reason I would love to own such a device will strictly be for the purpose of making a profit from owning such a device.

A lot of people will pay to know when they will die. While it may be dreadful for many people to behold the knowledge of their own end, there is a powerful urge that will force people to want to know the time of their death, which makes the uncertainty of their death a high-value commodity. It may be out of fear, curiosity, or a need for closure, but the demand for such a service would likely be high.

Except that such a device can only be used once, owning such a device will be an asset to anyone, as well as a high risk, as those who cannot afford it may like to steal it if not kept carefully.

I believe that one of the reasons we have faith in God is the knowledge gap. We seek Him every day because only He knows everything. There are certain things I believe are best left unknown, and having faith in God to show us the next day and the day after gives life more meaning. The feeling of wanting is sometimes said to be the drive, but once we have the knowledge, we probably won't find it worth the stress.
