A wonderful combination of engineering: The story of the gears and internal technology of an ATM machine.

When we withdraw money from an ATM machine, there is no way to understand from the outside how perfect the mechanism is working inside. In general, many may think of it as just an electronic or networking device, but in fact, it is a combined machine made of a wonderful combination of mechanical, electrical, electronics and networking technology. The role of the small and large gears inside this machine is immense in every step, from counting the money to delivering it precisely to the customer. Today, we will mainly talk about the names of the internal mechanical gears of this machine and their working specifications.

Gears with different sizes of teeth are used to maintain the precise timing and performance inside the machine. For example, 26-tooth gears are quite small in size and they mainly work to transfer speed quickly. Again, medium-sized gears with 35 and 36 teeth help rotate the belt drive and rollers inside the machine at the exact right speed. On the other hand, the 42 teeth gears are relatively large in size, which are used in providing more power or torque and in the main mechanism for pushing money. There is also a special combination gear of size 36/26, which is basically a dual-layer gear that helps in drive transmission by maintaining two different speeds and power balance at the same time.

The most wonderful thing is that these gears cannot work alone. When the motherboard and sensors inside the ATM machine receive specific commands through networking, the electrical motors inside become active. Then the power of that motor is transferred through the perfect timing belt and these different sized mechanical gears to complete the main task of dispensing money. Here, even a millimeter of the mechanism or a slight deviation of a tooth of the gear can cause the entire system to jam. Working with such delicate mechanisms, timing belts and gears every day is really a very challenging and at the same time a very enjoyable experience. Each gear's own specifications and their precise arrangement play a key role in keeping an ATM machine running smoothly and reliably.
