ATM Machine Complex Problem Solving: A Technical Experience.

Friends, I hope everyone is well. I usually share various experiences of our daily life with you. Yesterday I faced a very challenging situation in my work, which I will share with you today.

I went to the maintenance and repair of an NCR ATM machine. The first problem I saw when I went there was that there was no power or display coming to the machine's monitor. Although at first glance it seemed like a monitor problem, after a while I realized that the problem was deeper.

While working inside the machine, I suddenly noticed a slight sparking at a certain place. Sparking is very dangerous in electronic equipment, as it can cause a major short circuit or fire. I immediately became alert about the power source and carefully examined it to find the sparking place.

I saw that an important wiring harness wire inside had broken and was touching the body, creating this short circuit. That is why power was not reaching the monitor.

• First, I checked the electrical connection of the machine, thinking about safety.
• Then I cleaned the damaged wire thoroughly and reconnected it.
• So that the connection is strong and does not stick to the body in the future, I taped the area nicely using high-quality insulation tape.
• So that the cables are not messy, I arranged them properly and locked them.

After fixing the tapping and connection, I restarted the machine. The power came back to the monitor and the system started loading. Then I gave a CASH TEST command. As you can see in the picture, the TOP CASSETTE GOOD and SECOND CASSETTE GOOD messages were displayed on the screen. Finally, I successfully withdrew the money and confirmed that the machine is now fully operational and safe.

I experienced again in yesterday's work how important patience and close observation are in any technical work. A small torn wire can render the entire system useless. If it was not caught at the right time, it could have caused major damage to the machine.
