Fresh Rui fish in the market and some feelings of the middle class.

Yesterday evening, I went out to the local fish market with some time in hand. As soon as I entered the market, I saw a different kind of hustle and bustle around me and a different kind of busyness amidst the light and darkness. Whether it is winter or summer, the attraction of fresh fish in the market is always different for our Bengali families. When I went to the market, the first thing that caught my eye was all the wonderful fresh fish arranged on large platters. The golden and silver scales of the fish were sparkling under the artificial light, which would fill the heart of any fish lover.

Personally, my favorite fish is Rui. Rui fish broth with hot rice or fried with light spices is always incomparable to me. When I went to the market and saw the large fresh Rui fish jumping around, it became difficult to control my greed. But the real situation in the current market is a bit different. Recently, along with all kinds of daily necessities, the price of fish has also skyrocketed. Buying big fish regularly at such high prices is indeed a difficult test for the average middle-class person with limited income. This price hike sometimes forces us to restrain our desires.

However, after all, the joy of seeing the smiles of satisfaction on the faces of everyone in the family is different. Even though the price was high, thinking about the love in my heart and the nutrition of my family, I finally bought a fresh Rui fish weighing about 3 kg. When the seller was cutting, cleaning and packing the fish in polythene, a different kind of love was working in my heart.

Finally, with a sense of relief and a sense of ease in my heart, I headed home with the market bag in my hand. I realized once again that the joy of tasting this fresh fish together with the whole family for dinner is much more valuable than the high price in the market.
