Splinterlands challenge - Taking Sides | A very strong opponent
Hello all Splinterlands friends,
This is my entry for the Battle Mage Secrets challenge.
This week's theme is the Taking Sides ruleset in which we can not use the Neutral monsters, so I would like to share a battle with it.
The battle ruleset
- 99 mana cap
- Ruleset - Weak Magic and Taking Sides
- Splinter - All Splinters can be used, except Earth
With these rulesets, I decided to use the Water Splinter in this maximum mana cap battle.
My lineup
Summoner | ![]() | Kelya Frendul - 1 additional armor from this guy will help to protect better my monsters, especially with Weak Magic ruleset, when magic attack can not penetrate the armor. |
---|---|---|
1st position | ![]() | Diemonshark - this shark becomes my favorite tank in Water splinter recently with high armor and 2 useful abilities Trample and *** Enrage*** |
2nd position | ![]() | Musa Saline - she is only 3 mana monster, but she has high speed. In my team, she will make the 1st attack and remove all the armor from the targeted monster with her Shatter ability |
3rd position | ![]() | Kulu Mastermind - 9 mana monster with Opportunity ability to kill the low-health monster. He is upgraded to level 2 and has the additional Shield ability which will help him stay longer in the battlefield if he is against the melee monsters |
4th position | ![]() | Swamp Spitter - an important monster in this battle with Repair ability to repair 2 armors to 1 attacked monster. |
5th position | ![]() | River Hellondale - to give +1 melee attack with Inspire ability and can revive my monster with Resurrect ability. I expect Diemonshark to be revived with 1 health and get effect from Enrage then kill more monters |
6th position | ![]() | Axemaster - the last choice with high speed and Double Strike ability |

- My opponent is a real challenge for me. He/She chose Life Splinter with most monsters at the maximum level.
Klarus has both magic and melee attacks so he can deal 2 attacks per round. He also has an additional 25% chance to evade an attack with Flying skill and he can heal himself with the support of Tank Heal from Venari Crystalsmith
If Klarus is killed, he can be revived 2 times with 2 Resurrect skills from High Priest Darius and Adelade Brightwing
War Pegasus has the high speed and can destroy my monster armor with his Shatter skill
Lastly, Prismologist can make a Blast attack. - After 1st round, my Diemonshark was killed and revived with 1 health while my enemy team hadn't got any scratches. It's in my expectation however, I didn't expect he was killed in the 1st round.
- However, from 2nd round, the Enrage ability helped him to survive until the end of the battle. His speed was increased to 8 and he evaded a lot of attacks from my enemy monsters, while his armor got repaired from Swamp Spitter
- On another hand, my Kulu Mastermind killed Adelade Brightwing with his Opportunity ability and costed 1 Resurrect from High Priest Darius to revive her. It's my advantage because Adelade Brightwing doesn't have any armor and she could be killed again. If both Resurrect can be applied on Klarus, I had no chance to win this battle.
- In round 3, my team finished Klarus and the game became much easier for my team. It needed 2 more rounds to close the game with the winning for my team.
That's all for now and hope you enjoy this battle.

I see that the game is getting more and more difficult
Exactly. For me (and for some other players), Splinterlands nowadays is frustratingly too hard to play. This is why some people (including me) stopped playing Splinterlands in the recent past. Of course I am checking it from time to time. Splinterlands was one of my favorite video games in/around 2019.
Now my spy only accepts adrop and card rental
I switched to Modern format to reduce the game's complexity, and it worked for me.
I still play it regularly, when I have free time. The main reason is it just takes a few minutes to complete a battle, while it takes more time if you play another game.
I tried the Modern format too in the recent past. For me, it is even harder than the Wild format. Both are frustratingly too hard.
A League of Legends: Wild Rift battle can take more than 30 minutes. It is still much more enjoyable than Splinterlands. I rather have more than 30 minutes enjoyment, than a few minutes of frustration.
The main reason to play a game is to have fun. If it is not fun, then I will not play it. Or I very rarely play it to see if it is changed or not. Splinterlands was enjoyable in the past (it was one of my favorite games in/around 2019). I hope that Splinterlands soon will be enjoyable again.
A truly nice one! And three resurrecting cards in the game. Funny how their resurrected card applied a second resurrection only after being resurrected. !invest_vote
But at least, it costed 1 Resurrect to revive Adelade Brightwing and I'm happy with it. If both Resurrect applied on Klarus, I was in big trouble
