Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge - Quilliun Legionary, a multi-function monster

Hello all #Splinterlands friends, This is my entry for the Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge this week 🌟

In this post, I would like to share with you 2 different team lineups with Quilliun Legionary - a rare Earth monster in the Rebellion reward set.

I have a level 5 Quilliun Legionary in my deck and let's take a look at his stats

  • 2 range attacks, 10 health points, and Close Range/Void/Thorns skills make him a good tanker in most scenarios. He can fight against melee or magic monsters. If you add a monster with Tank Heal on his back to support him, he is even stronger.

  • You can also put him at the backline to deal the counter damage to Sneak melee monsters

With these stats, I think Quilliun Legionary is useful in many cases, and I prefer him to be at the frontline rather than backline.

Here are 2 battles with 2 different scenarios for you to refer

At front line

Here is the 1st battle with him, play a role as the tanker

The battle ruleset

  • 20 mana cap

  • Armored up - All Monsters have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stats, and Explosive Weaponry - All Monsters have the Blast ability.

  • Only Fire, Earth and Dragon Splinter can be used in this battle

With these rulesets, I decided to use Earth Splinter with magic monsters in this battle.

Team lineup

Summoner

Obsidian - To give +1 additional magic attack to all my magic monsters

1st position

Halfling Refugee - a 1 mana monster with good melee attack and health points

2nd position

Quilliun Legionary - I put him in 2nd position, and I think he will be in 1st position soon because the Halfling Refugee will not stay too long in 1st position.

3rd position

Thunderhoof Nomad - I put her in this position to utilize her Deflect skill, which can prevent the damage from Blast. In addition, all allied monsters will get 1 more health point with her Strengthen skill

4th position

Madcap Magus

5th position

Wood Nymph - a tank healer to give support for Quilliun Legionary

6th position

Djinn Biljka

  • My opponents also chose the same strategy with Earth magic monsters and Obsidian as the summoner.

  • As expected, my Halfling Refugee was blown away in the 1st round, and Quilliun Legionary was put in the 1st position. When Quilliun Legionary was in the 2nd position, he didn't take much damage from the Blast effect.

  • When Quilliun Legionary was pushed to 1st position, Thunderhoof Nomad moved to 2nd position, and she protected the backline monsters with her Deflect skill. That's why my opponent's monsters couldn't deal much damage to my team.

  • Finally, my team won the battle at the beginning of round 3.

At backline

Here is another battle when I put Quilliun Legionary at the backline. During the team lineup process, I thought my opponent could use the Sneak monsters, so I used him at the back.

Unfortunately, my opponent used ranged and magic monsters instead of Sneak melee monsters.

Luckily, I still won the battle with the standout performance from Katrelba Gobson

That's all for now.

I hope you enjoy these battles and have a nice weekend!
