Splinterlands season 23 report - My thought about staked SPS requirement for Leagues

Hello all Splinterlands friends,
It's me again to share the season 23 report with you.
In season 23, I played quite often with 348 battles (excluding brawl battles), and I got 210 wins. So I have a little bit better rewards compared to last season.

1. SPS earning

  • I got 173 staked SPS from ranked battle/ daily and EOS / brawl rewards and Tower defense packs this season ✅It's the highest SPS I could get in 1 season so far.
  • I also staked another liquid 200SPS and I almost had 11k staked SPS in my account.
  • The below picture is my reward from staking. In general, I could get ~ 600 liquid SPS and 5.5 Voucher per season.

2. Rental DEC earning

  • The overall rental price on the market went so low this season and I decided to minimize the rental activities on the market. I canceled all the rentals with low prices and only keep the active ones. I also stopped the "rent in to rent out" strategy because it didn't bring profits anymore.

3. Cards

  • This season, I'm able to level up 8 below cards, which means I got less penalty due to low-level cards 😁
  • In order to strengthen my deck, I sold 2 CL packs from last season and I bought River Hellondale. I want to use him with Martyr monsters in the battle to maximize the strengths of my monsters in the battle.
You can click on the below image to watch a battle with this tactic.

4. Next steps

  • Move up to the Gold league at season end ✅ No mistake anymore 😁
  • Using excess SPS to buy Riftwatcher and Nightmare packs ✅ Now, I have 27 Nightmare packs and they keep generating staked SPS for me, which increased by 7 packs from last season.
  • In the latest Townhall, staked SPS amount will replace the Collection Power at the end of next quarter. Frankly speaking, I also heard about this news for a while and it's the reason why I want to stack my staked SPS. However, when I saw the staked SPS requirement, I had a down mood. I feel the requirement is too high and players will leave the game and sell their cards when I read their comments. At the moment, I feel the game changed too much to the investment direction instead of playing direction which I feel it's not right for a game. In the end, Splinterlands is still a game and it needs to keep players playing the game. Otherwise, the game will die and no one want the game assets anymore. So I keep my eyes on the progress and see if there is any adjustment of this proposal and adjust my plan accordingly.

That's all for now. See you in the next report.

Thanks for the hint on the Townhall SPS staking changes coming. Since I am not following the Townhall I appreciate this very much. Way to many shifts towards inwestments. While that's what we could expect from a play2earn game, can we? To me the most fun, and lucrative fun, still is blogging. That's how I build my deck and my son's deck in the first place. And the Guilds are a key factor here in an ocean of players. Without the Gulids I may not even play that much.

With staked SPS there is one challenge I see. CP can be delegated. SPS can not. So this will be another change we have to experience. Remembering the massive struggles MTG had back when cards became to much an investment to too little a game. They managed to cope with it and moved back to being a game. !invest_vote
