The importance of reporting bugs to the Leofinance team

If you have been using Leofinance to post content on the HIVE blockchain you might have experienced a few hick-ups in the UI lately. In the past few days when I started to engage more on Leofinance and also using the frontend to publish my posts about HBD I came across this message quite often.

Nothing which can not be fixxed by refreshing the page, but it is still annoying to do it each time you click somewhere on the leofinance page.

What I also came accross and this is a major bug for me is that I can not set beneficiaries when publishing a new post.
Most of the times when I publish a post I set my Splinterlands guilds community account @acolytesofhelio as a 3% beneficiary to grow the bags of our guild. I also do that with my newest project the @hmvf or HIVE Music Video Foundation. (if you want to find out more about this click HERE we are currently looking for content creators musicians and film makers!)

Setting an other account as beneficiary is a good way to grow those accounts bit by bit. Therefore it is quite an important feature at least from my point of view.

When I try to set beneficiaries on the leofinance.io frontend I run into the following issue.

The green plus sign can not be clicked and I can not add any account as a beneficiary of my post. This is a major downturn for me since I will have to publish my post on an other frontend if I want this feature to work. But that will make me lose important points on the engagement ranking which I want to improve on.

What can you do?

Report the issue! If the devs of the platform do not know about it they can not change it, it is that simple.

How do I report an issue?

It is super simple to report issues to the team. Head over to the leofinace Discord Once you are there you just click on this little channel

Bildschirmfoto 20220501 um 11.48.39.png

Once there you can simply create a ticket to report the bug by clickcing on the create ticket button

Usually the team will get back to you pretty soon and they will look into it.

Every bug report helps

Do not think that your report is worth nothing! Every bug report helps the leofinance.io team to improve your user experience on the site! The more people report a bug the more pressing the issue gets to fix it.

As evidence how thankful the team is for reporting bugs have a look at this where Khal mentions me personally after reporting a bug.

You see where I want to take this? Everyone can do their part by participating actively in the day to day leofinance action.

What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comment section!

You bring up a very important point. It is best to keep the developers updated about anything that is not working right. We may not mind some small issue here and there. We have seen worse things during some of the old hard forks. Newly onboarded users on the other hand may have a terrible impression if they face too many bugs.

Especially when you are new it is intimidating as fuck to transact on hive. I can remember when I started out I read every data of the transactions that I had to sign just to make sure I am not hacked or my wallet getting drained.

New users should have the most fluid experience when they enter the ecosystem.

This is true for everyone. Fortunately/luckily I rarely encounter bugs. I remember a few Hivesigner and Splinterlands transaction errors from the recent past, but nothing serious.

This is a very nice piece of information, sometimes bug could be a very big problem and if action is not taking on time could escalate to something else.although I haven't encounter any bug since I have been using the platform but I think this will actually help and guide those that dont really know about it.

Yeah fortunately, each time I got that, the solution was simply to refresh the page and it worked. So nothing more than an annoyance.

I think I have to do that more often. When LeoFinance went down, I just went to sleep for the night but they didn't even know about the issues when I woke up. So I guess I need to report issues as I see them otherwise they won't know.

Absolutely, they can't be monitoring their site all the time. Developers need to sleep too
