Sheila and Carl had recently been dating, so they were trying to get to know each other better by doing different activities together. Theater, museum, restaurant, disco, different places and situations to figure out who they were facing and how much their interests coincided. At the end of the evening there was never a lack of an overwhelming session dedicated to carnal knowledge that invariably turned into a moment of intense complicity. After the intimacy Sheila would observe Carl's sculpted and tattooed back and night after night would ask him the meaning of each tattoo. He, calmly and with frequent pauses to recall the details, told her the story and the reason why he had gotten that subject tattooed. It was like putting together one piece at a time a puzzle that would eventually reveal the main subject in all its details.

Sheila e Carl si frequentavano da poco, quindi cercavano di conoscersi meglio facendo diverse attività insieme. Teatro, museo, ristorante, discoteca, diversi luoghi e situazioni per capire chi avevano di fronte e quanto i loro interessi coincidessero. A fine serata non mancava mai una travolgente sessione dedicata alla conoscenza carnale che immancabilmente si tramutava in un momento di intensa complicità. Dopo l'intimità Sheila osservava il dorso scolpito e tatuato di Carl e sera dopo sera gli domandava il significato di ogni singolo tatuaggio. Lui, con calma e con frequenti pause per richiamare alla memoria i dettagli, le raccontava la storia ed il motivo per cui si era fatto tatuare quel soggetto. Era come mettere assieme un pezzo alla volta un puzzle che alla fine avrebbe rivelato il soggetto principale in ogni suo dettaglio.
