Meme challenge #246 - Entry #2

Mike sat down on the trunk of a felled tree to catch his breath and collect his thoughts. After a few minutes he noticed that moss was growing on the same side of the trees, so he could infer which direction was north. He got up and walked as far as he could in a straight line to the east, presumably the direction to the village. After half an hour he thought he heard a distant, faint sound, muffled by the snow. He stopped and held his breath, he could not tell if it was real or a figment of his imagination.

Mike si sedette sul tronco di un albero abbattuto per riprendere fiato e riordinare le idee. Dopo qualche minuto notò che sullo stesso lato degli alberi cresceva del muschio, quindi poteva desumere in quale direzione fosse il nord. Si rialzò e prese a camminare per quanto era possibile in linea retta verso est, presumibilmente la direzione per il villaggio. Dopo una mezz'ora gli parve di sentire un rumore lontano e lieve in quanto attutito dalla neve. Si fermò e trattenne il respiro, non poteva dire se fosse reale o frutto della sua immaginazione.
