First Three Tune Tuesday of 2024

Happy New Year everybody and welcome to the first of 2024's Three Tune Tuesday!

Let's get to it.

Song 1

Roni Size is a drum and bass legend, and for us, this is where it started. Brown Paper Bag. Brains lost a lot of his, well Brains, in dark rooms listening to this very loudly.

Song 2

The second pick for today, Simon Diamond, is by UK indie-rock band The Coral, from their 2002 self-titled debut album. Although they have not been able to match the critical acclaim of their early years, the band are still going strong today. We love the conciseness of this song; it says what it wants to say, with nothing extra. Job done.

Song 3

For the last we are going for some old school rap from legends Cypress Hill. This is the last track from their first album. It kicks off with a glorious vocal vamp by Arethra Franklin from her 1967 song Dr Feelgood, and that settles into a groove built from a Booker T and the MGs track.
