Art Attack #225: Take My Memey Tacobits! 🤑
Hey Hive!
We're back again with another Art Attack! If you're new to the series, this is where I share my drawings and the process behind them. A behind-the-scenes look at my artwork, if you will. This is not to say that I'm very good at art, or that I'm a professional in any way. In fact this is the opposite, and serves as a reminder to how I first started, and lets me track my progress too!
Now that we took a break for a week, it's time for another emote showcase! I've shared about my streaming journey on Twitch in multiple posts and the art I've done both for my Twitch channel and this time, it's bit tier emotes! Viewers can show their support to streamers by giving them bits, or cheering, and one bit is one cent. So once you reach a certain amount of bits contributed to a channel you unlock bit tier emotes in that channel.
I've shared some of the old bit tier emotes I did that were mainly based on memes, but they looked really rough and I didn't really like them. Now that my art has improved I thought I'd just do an overhaul of all of them.
I still wanted them to be based on memes, but since they were bit tier emotes and you had to give money to get them, I thought making them all money-themed would be apt. For the first one which requires 1K bits, or $10, I wanted one that a lot of people would like, and the first common meme I thought of was the Take My Money one from Futurama:
I found this reference for an emote size since the actual meme scale is too wide, and this one looked great!
I also wanted the eyes to be similar to the meme since it'll be more recognisable that way, and also match the facial expression I was going for. To be honest it was kind of a shot in the dark, but I just wanted to try and see how it works. It looked really good tbh, and was a different style compared to my other ones but I liked it.
After that it was onto the outline and colour!
I wanted the money to be more green but a shade different from my lettuce in the taco. I found a shade in between the green I used for the previous money and the reference and I think it worked pretty well.
In the end we get this:
I thought it looked pretty good, but now that I look at it the tongue looks a bit off. But then again I wanted it to take up half of the mouth or it would just look like a void. When it's small like in chat I think it looks okay so I think I'll leave it as-is.
Here's the showcase for all the bit emotes I did! I only have 5 slots unlocked currently so I tried my best to fill them up but make them related somehow and it was pretty difficult just doing that.
The next one is a major improvement, so stay tuned for that!
Thanks for reading!
