The life of indigenous middle-class men
Middle-class men in society are the silent warriors who carry the burden of responsibilities everywhere, from the four walls of the house to the shop, the road or the office desk. Their life is a continuous struggle, where dreams are small but worries touch the sky.
The first sip of tea begins as soon as they wake up in the morning. Even the first sip of tea is filled with the bitterness of responsibilities. Running around in the bus, train or motorcycle, worrying about employment, and calculating the household expenses on returning if there is employment. For a middle-class man, salary is a magic number that disappears as soon as it comes – rent, electricity bill, children's fees, wife's medicines, parents' needs. Some children even start waiting for the next salary.
Social pressure is the biggest enemy in their life. "If there is a man, he will run the house", "the wife will dress the children well", "he will help relatives". All these expectations are placed on them, but no one asks how they live themselves. After marriage, it is as if the last chapter of their life is written – no more dreams, only responsibilities. The wishes of their wife, the education of their children, the renovation of the house – everything is on their shoulders.
There is no peace even in the office. The boss’s scolding, the jealousy of their colleagues, the dream of promotion that never comes true. If they come home late after working overtime, their wife’s ridicule, the children’s anger. Even while sleeping at night, they worry: “How will tomorrow’s bill be paid?” If they get sick, where will the money for treatment come from? The worry about their children’s marriage is already eating away at them.

The joys in their lives are small – going to the park with their family on a weekly holiday, or watching a match sometimes. But these joys are also like debts, they soon return. The desi middle-class man does not cry, he just bears it silently. He laughs for everyone, but cries in solitude.
These men are neither heroes nor villains, just ordinary people who are part of the machinery of society. The capitalist has made the common man his tool.
