Beautiful Mexican Silver Libertad From 2017!
I love Mexican silver coins and this one is an absolute beauty!
Moctezuma Xocoyotzin (known as Monctezuma II) was the ninth emperor of the Aztec Empire. Not long after the Spanish arrived and several battles later he was killed supposedly by his own people. The Spanish began to build their new building out of his palace known as the new houses of Monctezuma. One part of that was called the black house, Monctezuma's private meditation room. The Spanish built their mint La Casa de Moneda on top of this this structure in 1535. It is the oldest mint in the Americas. Although the ancient mint is now a museum the new mint site has been producing Mexico's coinage since 1983.
The silver Libertad's began their run in 1982 and have been produced yearly. They have offered silver fractional coins as well. The obverse is the Mexican coat of arms consisting of a golden eagle perched on top of a prickly pear cactus eating a rattlesnake encircled by Estados Unidos Mexicanos (United States of Mexico.) Surrounding it are all the previous Mexican coats of arms. The reverse has winged Liberty with the mountains of Mexico city in the background with 1 Onza Plata Pura 2017 Ley 0.999 (one ounce pure silver 2017 law 0.999.) A very beautiful coin!
About the coin:
Year: 2017
Mint: Mexico City
Content: 0.999 pure silver
Diameter: 40mm
Thickness: 3 mm
Edge: Reeded
Weight: One Troy Ounce
Population: 636,000
Sadly as of late premiums on these coins has become very high. They are definitely worth adding to your stack if you can get them at a good price. If you have any questions or comments feel free to add them below. Have a great day everyone!
And my disclaimer: Gold and silver stacking can be a fun hobby but isn't for everyone. You can lose money. I'm not a financial advisor and this isn't financial advice, please always do your own research before spending your hard earned money.

I only have one libertad in my stack so far and it's a 2 oz.
Eventually I plan to get more, the libertad is one of the
staple coins for stackers.
Great coins! I used to be able to pick them up so inexpensively but lately they have been getting up there in price!
I’m not trying to be a jerk, but the Libertad is a round not a coin. A denomination is required to be a coin. And Libertads are one of my favorites.
Technically you are right since there isn't a denomination, I guess I've heard it called a coin too often! I can't wait to see your next candidate for grading by the way, that Morgan is a beauty...
Thanks for understanding. I have a few more Morgan’s and some world coins.

Probably my favorite government bullion. I absolutely love the Libertad
Just so damn pretty!
Libertad is a nice silver round. Full of details almost like a zodiac, and so collectible !
They are nice rounds, it is kind of like the zodiac! I never really thought about it like that before!
Pretty!!!
Somehow, that round compared to the original design, I prefer the original!

I agree the original was nicer, but someone thought they could make it better... Maybe they will switch back eventually!

Said that the premiums have gone up on these coins, I noticed that a few years back....
Very popular coin, I think everyone has the same to stack these!😀
Just like everything else, those premiums just keep going up and up!
So very true my friend..........
That's one of the reasons I keep stacking!😇
Smart man!
Very nice. Appreciate the background you gave. That is my favorite part of collecting stuff. Learning the story behind their design and history.
Like @maddogmike, I only have one Libertad as well. Shared it on here a while back. I plan to pick up one or two more, but have some other things on my list first.
They are great to collect, finding a good price on the other hand is a lot harder these day... This one was just stumbling into a good deal without really looking for it. I have many other things above it on my list too!
Sweet I got me a 2017 one too my only graded coin and my first Libertad
That's cool! I don't have any of these graded.
Tits!
The best part about it!
