Back in the seventies and eighties the Franklin Mint was the go to place for these countries. They made awesome coins. They stopped coin production in the eighties, which was a shame. Niue now produced the most commemorative coins in the world, a tiny island in the Pacific ocean of course outsourced to New Zealand and other mints. They have some cool coins!

Yes, I got some Niue 2oz Turtles myself. Really nice coins and somewhat different to the standard coin shape. I have some Fiji bar coins as well. If you look around it seems every tiny coral island in the Pacific has issued it own coins. Also most African countries, even such desolate places like Somalia. As I said, there must be some money to be made with this.

Niue must be making a lot of money off of these. Did you see my post with the Pac Man coin they produced?

I guess they do, else they wouldn't make those coins. And they know that as a independent country they have the right to issue currency coins and nobody else can.

No I dont think I saw the Pacman coin, but I have seen plenty of other. There is just about everything out, Simpsons and Star Trek and Batman and whatever. But those are usually quite expensive, not my thing. I'm a stacker, not a collector.
